I went last night and though a $5 discount was offered for a Google Review, I’m doing this free because I hate writing a review on the spot with a gun to my head.
It was a great time and well worth the money for me.
I’ve done over 200 escape rooms across the continent and played a lot of games on the Oculus Quest at home. If you’re not used to using a VR headset, they normally recommend that you use it sparingly at first and slowly increase the time by 15 minutes to avoid nausea. I haven’t used it in years but was okay for the 60 minutes plus 30 minutes we tacked on at the end but my friend was feeling it. I’d advise you to take off your glasses.
Teleporting/maneuvering likely takes some getting used to for newbies but it’s not rocket science. It’s easier than using a PlayStation control pad IMHO.
The advantage of a VR experience is that you can create a massive world and space that isn’t practical, feasible, or safe in the real world. We played the Alice in Wonderland game and had teleporting corridors, huge gardens, and a clock tower of several floors. There’s an NPC hurling fireballs at us. You can’t do that in real life.
The downside of course is that you lose out on the visceral tactile experience which is a highlight of many escape rooms.
Oh! No stupid, number-combination solutions, at least with the Alice game. God, I hate those! There was one puzzle in the Alice game that wasn’t well designed and I think we screwed it up (glitch) so it needed to be skipped. You can do that by hitting the fast forward button that appears in the spot of the hint button.
Anyway, great experience....
Read morePros: Friendly staff (definitely) - hundreds of games to choose from - Discounts available - Snacks available for purchase
Cons: Was my first time, and I wanted some privacy while I made an ass of myself. So I booked the "Queen" room, with a friend. 95% of the time, the game was frozen or not working. We had to call staff in more than enough times, that we ended up just giving up and leaving early. At several points the staff couldn't fix the freeze, that we had to reboot and start again. Felt like I flushed my $60 down a toilet leaving, however I'm happy I experienced (kind) VR.
Another down fall, is because we did have to restart several times, we were forced to listen to the games story line, which ate a lot of time up that could have been better spent.
Suggestion: Go with someone who knows what their doing, or how to fix any hiccups. Otherwise, do shorter time your first round to get a feel for it. Once you've mastered either, then decide if you want to continue.
Add: I understand you did offer me 30 mins additional time for the glitches and errors and while I quickly learned the pause button, those were not the cases I was referring too. An employee had to come in, put on the gear and try to navigate us to the restart - Pause was...
Read moreI am an older adult and had never tried VR before. I went with my best friend, our daughters and their boyfriends. Not knowing what to expect at all, I was in shock at how much fun it was! The arcade itself was very nicely kept. It was clean and pleasant to be in and not too loud. The staff were very professional and attentive and I could tell that the staff members were creative types who were passionate about their work. Our personal attendant was named Natalie and she was absolutely fantastic for a first timer like me. She gave me good instructions and took the time to educate me on how to play as well as being there for me during the games and giving excellent tips to enhance the play. My favorite game was the “elf quest” where we got to shoot orcs and dragons. I was surprised at how fun it was and how it was a great workout for my arms! It also felt very real which made it more exciting. We then played minigolf which was a blast and on Natalie’s recommendation we rode the rollercoaster through dinosaur land and I was shrieking with delight! I definitely recommend this VR play for all ages especially adults and definitely plan to come back...
