Yes this building is filled with well mannered, nice students from the college. Keep this is mind, this is set up for students who are on the go, here to study. This is by no means a hotel room or an apartment or a "suite."||YES, this is a “dorm style” residential environment.||NO, there is not a stove/oven, only a microwave.||NO, there is not a single utensil, condiment, bowl, plate, coffee maker, nothing in the room. Pack up your travel stuff.||YES, there is Keurig coffee and tea in the lobby with creamer cups and sugar packs. ||YES, there is a huge fridge and “kitchen area” i.e. sink, drawers, etc., but there is no dish soap, sponge, nothing.||YES, there is shampoo, soap in the shower. No bathtub. No hairdryer.||There is laundry available on the ground floor.||The lighting is horrible in the kitchen, and there is a small table with 2 chairs.||Again, this is dorm style, so there are 2 separate bedrooms, both with TV’s and both with desks. There is not a main living area such as a couch, end tables, etc. The bedrooms are spacious and private.||The building is safe and well secured.||Parking is plentiful.||YES, there is construction is this is part of the college, but we were not impacted by it.||YES, it was very quiet and the air conditioning worked swimmingly.||YES, this is clean enough, but I travel with Clorox wipes where ever we go.||The beds are comfortable enough and up very high off the ground for extra storage.||Now listen carefully as this is the most important. It’s about the Wi-Fi. In one of our bedrooms there is hard wired internet. Take your laptop and Windows 10 has a built in feature for internet sharing called mobile hotspot. This allows you to create your own, personal Wi-Fi network so you can connect your Wi-Fi devices to the internet. Thus, we have both out laptops, Alexa, mobile phones, everything is on and running. I am currently connected to the Wi-Fi via my partners computer in the other bedroom and I am getting 40 mbps down and 40 mbps up. We are not complaining. And there is “free Wi-Fi” in the lobby, but many reviewers are complaining about not having Wi-Fi in their rooms. This is how you bypass that. It appears that in some units both bedrooms have an ethernet cord, but our...
Read moreAccessibile for those with limited walking capabilities who might also use a scooter or wheelchair but can walk a few steps in a washroom. Spacious bedrooms and kitchen. Washroom cramped, could not fit any equipment but a cane, not likely cane crutches. Tile floor was not slippery and there were no tripping hazards. Shower tiny, no room for bath seat, can sit on toilet and wash hands at same time, very tight. The hotel may have rooms with accessible bathrooms that you can ask for, none left on our date of travel. Entrance to hotel was level with ground, no steps or thresholds. Furnishings in kitchens and bedrooms all could work for wheelchair or scooter, lots of turning room. ||||There is no real sitting room, just a kitchen with table and 2 chairs. A true college residence feel. Painted a dull grey throughout, not a single picture on walls, very in keeping with being a student residence. Carpet in hallway exceptionally filthy, guessing regular cleaning staff either on strike or on summer vacation. Room had been cleaned and standard towels and soap supplied but was not terribly well cleaned. No kitchen supplies whatsoever, no dish soap or even paper towels. Grim fluorescent lights in kitchen flickered, other guests compared rooms to prison cells, can't disagree. If you can get this room for under $100 and you need a kitchen to prepare meals for kids with allergies then this hotel might work for your family. Functional and utilitarian, no frills, minimum standard for comfort. ||||Note that WiFi is only available for free in the lounge/breakfast area beside front desk. Well stocked continental breakfast with fruit and about 4 options for each of Keurig...
Read moreWe wanted somewhere we could stay after our dragonboat race at the Welland International Flatwater Centre. Niagara College Residences are conveniently located to amenities and were close to the race course as well. The staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms are very basic - definitely no-frills but we were ok with that. The bathroom is very small and only contains a shower. The bedrooms have a bed, tv and desk as well as an open closet. Linens are supplied. The kitchen has a full-sized fridge and a microwave. The unit was clean but unfortunately, had a very musty smell. I think they could all use dehumidifiers to control the humidity. We didn’t use the lounge or the vending machines. No one had issues with noise either. I would stay here again but I do hope they address the...
