Pizza Hut — Restaurant in Welland

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time. We had tried going to MT Bellies but there was a bit of a wait and we had tickets for a movie next door. Then we notice Pizza Hut. Been before and no complaints. There were 6 people in the restaurant when we got there. Not busy at all. We were seated immediately. Thought this was a good thing. Then after 10 minutes the server that seated us noticed we still hadn't taken our order and noticed me with a not happy look. She scrambled for paper and a writing instruments (a blue crayon). We gave our order and then informed her that we did have movie tickets for 6:50. It was at this point 6:10. She said okay, no problem and left to take our order in. We waited and waited. Finally at 6:38 I walked up to the counter to tell them we couldn't wait any longer, but someone came out with pizza and said sorry here you go. I followed her to the table and asked for the bill as we only had a couple minutes. I sat down to eat but realized that this wasn't our order. Not even close. I informed them of there mistake and said we can't wait any longer. My party and I headed for the door when they brought our pizza to the counter in to go boxes and said they were sorry. I was not happy. She rang up my bill. I asked for a discount and she in turn offered up a free pizza next time. I don't plan on coming back. I didn't have time to argue as the movie starts in 6 minutes. Gotta go. I ended up spending a lot more at the movies because I was hungry. You know... Because I...

The old blonde server was really pleasant and very friendly. Also the food arrived quickly (or else I would've given it one star) but unfortunately I ordered a pizza with no cheese and it came with cheese. The server said that the mushrooms were contaminated with cheese or something like that which seemed weird. The second pizza also arrived in a reasonable time. Good thing I wasn't severely allergic to cheese though. The food was delicious but I felt like I was still tasting some cheese. Maybe it was the placebo effect. All I know is that if you are allergic to cheese, are lactose intolerant, or a vegan, get ready to get confused because all of the online articles I found (like the one from peta2) says that the Thin ‘N Crispy Crust is vegan but when you go to their Canadian site with ca instead of com at the end, and click on ingredients, it says that it has whey protein on it. I guess the articles was only talking about the Pizza Hut's in America but I got the normal dough after the server told me it has no dairy in it but now I am not sure if that was true. I am basically so confused and I knew I should've went to the Pizza Pizza near by this place but I wanted to try something new. The pizza was was definitely more delicious than the one on Pizza Pizza which makes sense according to the price difference but Pizza Pizza at least offers non-dairy cheese. Recently, my son with Celiac Disease wanted some pizza while we were on the go. After stopping into Domino’s on Niagara St. where are the gentlemen behind the counter immediately panicked when we asked him about how they prepare gluten-free pizza to avoid cross contact with gluten, abruptly shouted “There’s gluten everywhere here. Gluten all over everything”. We thanked him and I recalled a friend sharing that Pizza Hut also had a gluten-free option. At Pizza Hut also along Niagara St. in Welland, we were grateful to be met by Anand behind the counter, Who expressed that he cannot guarantee any cross contact but would do his best and explained the process in which he and other employees have been trained to serve the gluten-free community. He even said that they generally do not even cut the pizza so that it helps ease any anxiety from gluten-free people, knowing that there has been minimal done to their food But because I had my son with me, he asked my comfort level about using a clean pizza cutter to have it sliced so that my son could eat it in the car.
