I have just come back from a week at the Hotel Gomero. It is located in beautiful gardens about a 10 minute walk from the Main Street in a very tranquil area. The splash pool is a lovely feature and not common in most hotels on the Island. My room was cosy with a comfy bed and clean sheets, the bathroom had a powerful shower with plentiful hot water - my room was cleaned daily. Breakfast was tasty and the staff were really really friendly and helpful. I felt totally safe walking back from the Main Street alone at night and there was someone on duty 24/7. I think people making negative comments need to remember that Easter Island is not a luxury destination - it is a tropical island, the furthest point on the planet from continental land mass and has no manufacturing - understandably it is also very eco-conscious. Expect things to look well used and worn everywhere, expect to see insects everywhere - but this does not equate to poor cleaning and hygiene standards. Having seen the location and condition of a lot of the other hotels on the Island - the Gomero stands out and offers the visitor a clean , cosy, tranquil and safe environment. Thank you very much to the team for a lovely stay and hopefully I will see you all...
Read moreMy stay at Hotel Gomero was fantastic. We had a room that looked onto the main garden and small swimming pool, with a very comfortable bed, mini-fridge, and an excellent overhead shower. The Wifi is a bit patchy all over Isla de Pascua, which gave us time to relax on the various comfy couches and chairs around the hotel. The breakfast buffet is fantastic with fresh mango, kiwi, bananas and more, crepes, juice, tea and coffee, along with eggs, bread, cheese and more. The rooms are cleaned daily. In the morning you can hear birds chirping which is a beautiful way to wake up. The waiting staff were friendly, providing airport transfer and answered all of our (many!) questions about how to get around, where to rent a car, which scuba diving company was best, and recommended the Kari Kari dance show which was interesting and impressive. We felt at home and very welcome at Hotel Gomero, and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and luxurious-feel hotel while also being authentic and very slightly off the main street of Hanga Roa. I left only a week ago and am already missing the whole experience! 100%...
Read moreI booked this hotel through Hotels.com and as such, the hotel arranged for me to be met at the airport (and returned at the end of my trip). The property is smallish and beautiful. The garden and the pool area are gorgeous. There is WiFi available in the reception area and adjacent room. My room was large and clean with a mini refrigerator and safe. It did not have air conditioning but the nights cool down and the ceiling fan kept the room cool and I slept comfortably. The property is a little bit removed from the downtown and is in more of a residential area. As such dogs barking at night and roosters crowing in the early morning can be a challenge if you're a light sleeper. I used earplugs personally and slept like a baby. The included breakfast was great!||||I walked to the little town center and a bit further to the coast. There are many great shops and restaurants all along the way. There are markets just a short walk from the Hotel Gomero and there is an ATM on the walk to the coast just minutes from the...
