Stayed here for 5 nights during Tapati, booked a bed in a 2-bed dorm for USD40/night. I came here myself from another accommodation, found the place on Google map but wasn't sure whether it is the right place given there was no signs anywhere. The cleaning lady saw me and let me know this is the place, she was friendly and called the owner to see what time he will be back. The owner came 30 mins later and checked me in. Location is quite convenient, about 15 mins walk to the main street.||||Note that they don't take payment on OTA sites (I booked on hotels.com) nor take credit card payment so will have to pay in cash upon check-in. The 2-bed dorm room is spacious and clean, I was a bit worried as it is described as a mixed dorm, it will be odd to share a room with just 1 other male (me being female) but it was not busy when I went so I had the room to myself during the entire stay. Also there are 2 such rooms and another guy who booked the same type of room was in the other room so I guess they try to make it single sex if they aren’t full. The bed is comfortable, made up everyday, no air conditioning but it is quite cool at night so not a problem. Found a cockroach one night but I wouldn't blame them, they have kept the place clean and I think this can simply happen anywhere in Hanga Roa if there are windows in the room.||||The whole place is quite new, there's a living room with tv on the lower floor. Also a large kitchen which is well equipped with 2 large refrigerators and they also clean out food from guests that have left. Can use kitchen till 10pm. There are 3 toilets/showers, no problem with hot water. It was really empty when I stayed so no need to wait for shower or kitchen at any time but I think it can get a little hectic if the place is full. Breakfast is provided which I think most Easter Island hostels do not, although it is simple with bread, ham, cheese, jam, tea and coffee, it was still very useful to be able to grab a bite before heading out. I bought eggs so made scrambled eggs myself. They provide laundry service at 15,000 pesos for a load which is handy. I didn't try the wifi and used the Entel data sim I got from SCL airport which worked ok for messaging. ||||One of the owners was there during breakfast time, otherwise they come and go during the day. The male owner is nice but very quiet, the lady owner is more approachable and friendly, I asked her about the parade and she let me know where to go. Also borrowed her mobile as I wanted to call this massage place. Mentioned departure flight time the day before and the male owner took me to the airport.||||Overall, had a good stay, the dorm is pretty good value for Easter Island so I...
Read moreI stayed at Kori because it was walking distance from the post office and main areas and becasue they had breakfast included and wifi. What I didn't expect was how new and spacious the place was. The host, Marcela was great and gave me a ride back to the airpirt. They offer free pickups as well. I actually walked from the airport to the hostel when I arrived. Was about 20 minutes. The hostel is located on a clay road off of a paved road so you will not see it from the main road. They offered a mountain bike rental which i used to circumnavigate the island. In terms if location and price, I thought it was excellent . I stayed in a twin room so I only had one roommate. You will hear animal noises at night but my bed was very comfortable. Ideal for sleeping after a long day of riding. The shower had hot water and I never had to wait to use the bathroom. Breakfast was a typical continental and theres a store about a minutes walk away that sells foodstuff. The wifi isnt high speed but more than adequate. Overall...
Read moreWas unaware that a pickup service from the airport was a courtesy. I called multiple times (11) to contact the hostel with no answer. ||After finally arriving by taxi, I asked “Kori” why he didn’t answer. Said that pick was a courtesy and something about his phone..... I left it at that.||The property is about a 10-15 min walk to the main drag. It was well kept and well stocked with dishes and appliances. The staff was cleaning daily and even made the beds. The shared bathrooms are a little small but that’s fine. WiFi was sporadic at best. And phone service on the island is even less. ||Kori did bring me to the airport for my flight out and gave me a shell necklace and was very appreciative. I tried to tip him for the ride but he refused. ||Overall,...
