I was expecting a lot from Hotel Gavina Costa Mar, but unfortunately it did not fully live up to my hopes. The location is very good, with convenient parking and a nice seaside setting. Bed quality was excellent, and the service — especially at check-in — was smooth and professional, which I appreciated given the substantial paperwork required by Chilean regulations. However, the rooms — especially the bathrooms — are quite dated and in urgent need of refurbishment. Breakfast was below expectations, with limited quality. Sound insulation was also poor, and both street noise and strong winds were very disturbing. Overall, the hotel benefits from its location, comfortable beds, and good service, but falls short in terms of comfort and upkeep.

I had a wonderful experience at this recently renovated hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The breakfast was well-prepared, offering a good variety of options. My room was beautifully designed and comfortable. While the street-side rooms can be a bit noisy, my personal experience was minimally affected by it. The hotel is perfectly situated in downtown Iquique, with bars and restaurants within walking distance. Additionally, the beach is just a short stroll away. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its great location and welcoming atmosphere.

Reception staff is either useless or annoyed when you asked them questions. A couple of times there has been rowdy guests shouting about in the corridors past midnight. Restaurant staff very polite, friendly and willing to help. The rooms are nice but decorated with cheap, fake-luxury materials and furnishing. Also, breakfast staff should be made aware of cross-contamination risks, same container AND serving spoons for sausages and vegetables, unseen in any other decent place.

My one-night stay at Gavina Sens was great, but my whole experience was drastically elevated thanks to the incredible service of Antonio at reception. Not only does he speak fluent English, he is the kindest individual I have met anywhere in Iquique, and he goes above and beyond to ensure stays are the best here. He and his team set me up with a wonderful ocean-view room for my stay, and the views were outstanding. The price is high, but the cost is worth it.||Moreover, when I encountered difficulties with electric wheelchair accessibility and taking a long-distance bus, I briefly returned to Gavina Sens just to seek out Antonio’s assistance (as he really was the only English speaker who could understand and solve my complex needs). He showed excellent compassion and effort in coordinating with regional bus companies to ensure my electric wheelchair could have time to be loaded onto the bus, and sure enough, I successfully left the city for a trip to Arica later in the day. Without his help, I would’ve surely been stuck in Iquique for a long time more.||All in all, I recommend this property for a classy Iquique...

Nice location with a beautiful ocean view from the endless pool where birds of all types dip in for a quick drink.,The breakfast / dinning room ceiling to floor all glass view is one of the best I have seen in Iquique. The buffet (included in the room) has the typical selections of items. Tea and Cafe are included but if you ask for something extra, like an espresso , expect to pay additional for it. The rooms are clean and as appear in the photos, The staff spoke little english and when consulted for VAS services like bike rental, or scooters, were of no help. We went for my daughters 12th B day and apart form parasailing, I wanted to make her day special by coordinating some balloons and soft drinks out of the pool deck. It could not be organized I was told. No big deal however I would have expected for 5 start "service" for the price of the hotel. Parking was available however extremely limited. They will find space for you however, once again, not a 5...

Gavina Sens is spectacularly located on a promontory on the ocean side of the main drag. Most other hotels in town necessitate crossing the street to get to the shoreline. We had an eighth floor room with an amazing southerly view across Playa Cavancha with the dry Atacaman hills in the background. Most of the desk staff speak pretty good English and are very helpful. Our room was large and comfortable with a nice walk-in shower. A tip is to sleep with the slider open to the balcony. You can fall asleep to crashing waves and pleasant outdoor temperatures and there are absolutely no bugs. Only complaint is that the bath towels were old and tired. We plan to return to Gavina Sens in a couple of weeks at the conclusion of our adventures in northern Chile and our departure from the...
