I'm a seasoned traveler (50+ countries and all 7 continents) and have endured a lot with hotels. But my stay at this property the night of Dec 8 was the worst ever. Literally across the street from the hotel a bar/restaurant had a band or DJ play music as loud as possible from 10p to 2am. I am almost deaf and use hearing aids, so I can only imagine how bad it was for regular people. Despite saying that they had 24 hour front desk staff in their online listings, they don't, and there was no one to complain to or to get to try to get the noise to stop. I got zero sleep and went on my previously booked day trip which left the property at 4:30am. When I got back at noon, I expressed my frustration with the hotel staff member who was on site by that time and told them that I would be leaving early despite having pre-paid for 4 nights. The prospect of another sleepless night was too much for me to deal with.
Evidently that staff member relayed my concerns to someone named Natalia Castano who sent me the following WhatsApp message on Dec 10.
I'm writing you to regarding your complaint and experience here in San Pedro to let you know that the Hotel has managed continuous complaints to the bars surrounding our facilities, both individually and jointly with other hotels, with those which form the tourism corporation in San Pedro de Atacama . Complaints have been made to the environmental secretary, to the police station and to Town Hall of San Pedro de Atacama, but the government institutions have not taken action so far, and sadly, that is the most we have been able to do. We have done everything we can. On the other hand, please not that we are in the centre of San Pedro de Atacama, and whenever someone chooses a central location to stay, they are going to encounter these kind of difficulties. Also, we are in the desert and sound travels further than in a city, for example. Unfortunately the hotel is not financially responsible for personal situations or situations of this kind...............
and on and on.
My problem with this response is that if management of the Pasqual Andino knew of these ongoing problems with noise going on into the early hours of the morning and had fielded "continuous complaints" over time to the extent that government agencies have been asked to get involved, why wasn't I told this at the time of booking? The answer is because the Pasqual Andino wanted my money more than they wanted to be transparent with me about the conditions I would experience as a paying guest.
I have taken the time to write this review because I want anyone who reads it and is considering staying at the Pasqual Andino, or traveling to San Pedro de Atacama in general, to know what the conditions are that are actually happening with this property and the town.
I would not wish my experience of Dec...
Read more10/10 experience at Pascual Andino. This hotel deserves more than the 3 stars listed on here. My fiancé and I arrived to this hotel at 9am and checkin was at 2pm. We were greeted warmly and was offered breakfast. Then we sat in the common area playing uno and other games for two hours. Our room was ready by 11am and they let us check in super early, we didn’t even ask!
Breakfasts were always peaceful and lovely with the staff attending to us and providing fresh omelette and eggs. We were also given a water bottle each to use during our trip and could refill them with the cold water here. We never paid for water!
Parking inside was safe and a breeze. Our rooms were cleaned daily. The staff knew our names and were just overall lovely whenever we had questions. We also used the hotel’s bikes two different days for free which we didn’t even know was an option before we got here. The bikes were in good shape and we were able to get to Garanta del Diablo and Pukara de Quitor very easily.
The rooms were immaculately clean. The shower ran hot. The bed and sheets smelled so clean and were soooo comfortable, as were the pillows. And I’m very picky when it comes to these things.
We were even offered a free cheese/snack plate with glasses of wine on our last night. It was appreciated.
The location is also perfect in my opinion. One street over from the main street so we were able to walk to restaurants and stores every day. Local convenience stores nearby. A short bike ride away from some attractions.
I will say that it can be a bit noisy at night as you can hear music and sometimes karaoke from restobars nearby, but we slept perfectly fine each night as we were exhausted from our daily activities. The benefits of staying here outweighed any sounds at night.
Overall, we were super happy with our stay and choice of coming here. We checked out earlier but have been lounging in the common area outside til we’re ready to leave later. I’d recommend staying here! And whenever we come back to San Pedro, we will...
Read moreThe hotel was nice and the bed was comfortable. The hotel service is not the best. It has serious payment problems. Out of 5 cards between debit and credit that I had, they did not receive them. We had to go to change money because they do not receive Chilean pesos as a foreigner. The meaning of the service is to make things easier for the guests and to make them enjoy their vacations. We had to spend almost a day of our vacation trying to solve the payment issue of the hotel. No PayPal not any other options of payment. The breakfast and the toiletries are very precarious for the cost and the infrastructural of the hotel. The jacuzzi is impossible to use unless you stay a whole day at the hotel because the specific schedule is just when everyone is on tours. So we could not use it at the end of the day after a tiring day of tours. I do not recommend this hotel. There are better hotels for the same or less cost according to my partner who had already visited San...
