Las Delicias de Carmen — Restaurant in San Pedro de Atacama

Great first-day dinner experience! On our first day, we visited this restaurant and ordered steak and soup – we paid 65,000 pesos in total. Honestly, the steak was huge, and the portion size overall was absolutely massive. The food was very good – the steak was a bit overdone, but still tasty and definitely worth the price.

We also ordered soup, and that too came in an enormous portion. We were completely full – we couldn’t even fit in dessert afterward!

We were really happy with the meal. The portions were big, the food was tasty, and the service was lovely – the waitress was very kind and attentive.

Don’t recommend. When I looked at the surprisingly high prices on the menu, I expected above average food. The Pastel de Choclo for incredible 26k CLP had about 10% other ingredients apart from corn. I have seen this dish with a proper ratio of corn to meat, where the corn will not be the only thing you taste. Someone else might like it, but not my taste, especially not at that price. Typing in the amount including 10% tip into the card machine without asking me whether I want to tip and how much, is another deal...

The worst meal I had in San Pedro. The bread with salsa was pretty good. However, the main dish we ordered by the recommendation of our waitress was horrible. The roasted pork had a smell while it was super bland. It didn't get cooked with enough seasoning. The tomatoes were quite tasteless while the potatoes were really bland as well.
