We were booked into this hotel as part of a tour. The hotel is accessed via a garage just off of a main road and is not very inviting. It seems to be a long way from the centre of town although there is a metro close by and the area is clearly not one of the better ones - we were not comfortable walking around and would not go out once it got dark - all of the shops etc next to us are boarded up and covered in graffiti.||||The room is tiny and the standard American bed is actually a uk queen size. Worse tough is that the room is filthy. There were long black hairs hanging from the shower head, around the taps and in the bath. The bathroom floor needed wiping and you could not see out of the windows as they had a quarter inch black grime on the inside. The black out curtains were also so filthy we did not want to touch them. There were 2 lights that did not work. The air conditioning is actually a floor fan which stopped working after an hour. Whilst the sheets were clean, the blanket on the bed clearly had not been washed. The bathroom is tiny and you are limited to 10 minutes of hot water every 30 minutes. ||||There is a kitchen area but nothing to use, not even a kettle. I also had to request a hair drier and a safe key, which you have to pay for, although this is not that expensive|||| The road noise is absolutely horrific and did not stop all night. Even with earplugs in it was not possible to drown it out.||||There is supposed to be a pool on the roof. What there is is a very small paddling pool that is green and slimy with leaves and rubbish in and clearly has not been cleaned out in a very long time. The chairs around the pool are also filthy.||||We have not experienced the breakfast but this looks fairly basic.||||We are due to stay here for 3 nights but are doing our best to be moved as soon as we can. I don't know what the cost is as this was part of our tour but whatever it is definitely not worth it.||||The only nice thing I can say is that the staff have been friendly although their English is very limited (but that does not seem to be unusual in...
Read moreStrange, isn't it, how different people have different impressions of things. The Imperio Suites, tucked round the corner from the main road, has a cramped and curious reception area (there's a little water dispenser, but there's barely room to sit), but the rooms are large, with plenty of space to loll about.||OK, it's tired and needs modernising, but most hotels in this price range do, and this is slightly above average.||Believe me, I've stayed in some dives in Chile down the years.||Up on the top floor is the breakfast room, with toaster, fresh fruit, cheese, jams, bread, a tea urn, rather indifferent coffee (you're better off with teabags) and strange juices that turn into a daily quiz: can you work out what flavour it's meant to be?||But further along the corridor on the top floor is a door out on to a terrace.||This includes a swimming pool (see picture). Now, this is not a working pool, but the terrace has tables and chairs, so you can make an evening picnic if you're on a budget and eat up here in the open.||It's a good place to sit and read (we weren't troubled by biting insects in February), or just chill. The only problem is that when the hotel is full of locals, they love to come up here and smoke. So non-smokers may get irritated by that.||All in all, a spacious, basic hotel, good en suite, plenty of...
Read moreFlies in the room. Grime on the Windows. When we checked in, we were given a key and a remote control for the tv. Immediately a bad sign. There was a bullet(?) hole in the wall. The whole floor smelled of mildew. The king bed was 2 twins shoved together and don't bother sleeping because they are hard as rocks plus you can't sleep because of the...
