Ok, I understand cultural differences and adjusting when traveling, but this was ridiculous!! The front desk staff was beyond even being rude!! They were dismissive, rude, and totally disinterested in trying to accommodate us in any way!! The hotel advertises itself with non-smoking rooms, BUT when we got to our floor after already being frsutrated to the nth degree by the front desk staff, the whole floor was filled with smoke! We saw that there was some kind of card/dice game going on in a room just off the elevator and there were about 10-12 men in that room and they ALL appeared to be smoking! It was so smokey in their room that they had opened the door to the hallway and all the smoke was billowing out and filling the hall! All of this was happening right next to the "No Smoking" sign that hung by the elevator! I took a photo of the sign and then smoking men and went back to the front desk. We were there for a marathon and 2 of the people in our group had asthma so the smoke was going to be deadly for all of us, but more so for some of the group. Once again, the front desk staff couldn't care less! I explained the situation and told the ront desk staff they would have to move us to a different floor and they just waved a hand at us and said no more rooms!! I said we cannot sleep there, it's too smokey! The lady at the front desk told us it's illlegal to smoke in hotels in Beijing!! I showed her the photo of the men smoking and the smokey hall! She said, no more rooms!! I had to go get our group coordinator and she got into a very heated debated with the front desk staff and after a LONG drawn-put "discussion" they moved us! But that was just the beginning of "I don't care!"!!!! We ended up moving hotels for the last couple of days we were there and it was an unbelievable difference! Soooo much nicer!! I wish we'd moved sooner! I would NEVER stay there again...no matter how...
Read moreMy partner and I stayed at Room 4010 over new years for 6 nights and it was a sad end to an otherwise lovely 2 weeks in China.||||Our check-in experience was awful with rude and dismissive reception staff who struggled to communicate with us. For a self-proclaimed 5 star hotel, we were left to take our luggage to our own rooms and discover that our room was large but impractical, tidy, but dated and dirty around the edges. The shower had a curtain with brown stains on the bottom and the water pressure was tepid.||||If you're after advice on directions, places to eat, taxis, look no further than the touch panel screen in the lobby. Only thing is, if you want to book a taxi - you're out of luck unless you have a chinese sim. If you think reception can help you with queries, you're out of luck. They're only willing to help you on things they can get a bit of commission from you.||||The Tour Info office inside the hotel is not reliable at all. The signs advertise 180 RMB for a tour of badaling and ming tombs, but you will be given a paper with english options quoting 260 RMB and higher. They intentionally mislead you and omit that they are running shopping tours that consume your day with little time spent at the landmarks. We told the hotel we wanted to see Badaling, they ended up taking us to Juyong Pass. Not only that, were were hustled from one shop to another, to endure pressure selling tactics.||||When you check out, make sure you allow time for the staff to check your room for anything missing or damages. But again, the staff are unhelpful when it comes to helping you get to the next destination. We were quoted 300 RMB by the concierege for a transfer to the airport and were refused help to order a public taxi which is only around 120 RMB. ||||Good luck to anyone who stays here. Avoid...
Read moreThis hotel was just so horrible! The room itself, a twin on the 4th floor was pretty bad. It was tiny and over looked directly into other people's rooms. Make sure your curtains are closed. ||The room itself was dirty. Other people's hair was on the floor of the bathroom and shower. The drain pipe was blocked with hair and flooded the whole bathroom. The shower had black mold all over the tiles and the shower curtain had pink mold all down on the bottom of it. ||The service at reception was horrible. They were really rude and since I was English speaking they made a point to just dismiss our concerns of cleanliness when we brought it up. ||The breakfast room is small and you couldn't find a table anywhere, they had a stupid 2 slice toaster which took 5 minutes to toast for 200+ people dining in the room! The Chinese style breakfast options weren't all that nice either. It wasn't impressive. |I also noticed they allowed anyone to come and buy breakfast there and it wasn't expensive for walk ins, so that could explain the complete lack of seating. Standing around until a table became free or simply sitting down at a 12 person table with randoms...||Overall it was terrible! I would not waste...
