I just can’t believe how wonderful it was staying at the Regent Hotel in Beijing. We stayed for five nights and received more than five-star service from the moment we arrived. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless, comfortable, and truly memorable.
The concierge team deserves special recognition—Yina Wang, Karen, and Laura were absolutely outstanding. There were also a couple other gentlemen there that I cannot remember their name and did not write it down. They happily helped us navigate the city, provided detailed maps with turn-by-turn directions, and even pre-booked tickets for all of our sightseeing adventures. Their local knowledge and warm professionalism made exploring Beijing effortless. If you are not a native Chinese speaker, you will have problems using regular maps and finding entrances to local attractions if you did not have their help.
Each and every single person at the front desk was attentive and ready to help with check-in and offer additional key fob entries after we lost ours. This staff was especially important and noticeably different from our other Asia experiences because each and every one of them spoke excellent English.
The valet and bell hop team, including Luke, Arthur, Carl, and Timo, were equally impressive—always quick to help with luggage and transportation and full of friendly advice, using google translate when necessary. It was clear that the level of service here is a team effort, with each person contributing to an exceptional guest experience. Ready to light a guests cigarette and even offer one from their own personal supply. I know I’m leaving out other individual names, but I could not include everybody because there were so many people helping. There were two other gentleman which I forgot to catch names, but they helped us do some filming for a YouTube video we were creating. I really appreciate their help.
During our stay, I also met the marketing coordinator, Addison Zhang, and the creative manager, Scott Wang, who were truly enthusiastic about what I did for business. They gave me excellent advice for what I do in my business and I gained a better understanding of some direction I should pursue in my professional ventures.
Housekeeping was top-tier. Every day we returned to a spotless room, where even our charging cables had been neatly organized—something I’ve never seen done in any hotel, anywhere. It was thoughtful touches like this that really elevated the stay. I drink a lot of water and they were quick to notice and always prepared for me in advance.
Dining was another highlight. The breakfast buffet was expansive, delicious, and catered perfectly to both Western and local tastes—plenty of choices to start each day right. It’s hard for Americans to eat in Asia. You usually get runny eggs and undercooked bacon, but the dining staff was able to prepare exactly how I requested.
We ate at the restaurant and Huang Young and the entire team at Morton’s Steakhouse provided an incredible dining experience with impeccable service and superb food. During my stay, I often bumped into Huang, and on our last day, he gave me a parting gift which was a bracelet of friendship beads. Always above and beyond!
Room service was excellent quality food and the price was extremely reasonable. The late night mac & cheese was my favorite. My wife had Chinese food multiple times as well as one of the Italian dishes and was completely pleased with delivery and quality.
And let’s talk about value: the price for all of this luxury and attention was unbelievably affordable. We came to see the Forbidden City, but we felt like royalty ourselves every moment we were at the Regent.
If you’re coming to Beijing and want a truly world-class experience without the sky-high prices, stay here. I can’t recommend it enough—we’re already looking forward to...

Check in by a kind lady who spoke better English than I do, her name is Helen Sun (they usually have an English name so to make it easier for foreigners).
Although an ihg Diamond, we were very pleasantly surprised as we did not expect an upgrade to the room category. We were lucky and Helen was very kind.
Got a huge room, a Suite actually. Yes while the hotel is dated, it is very well maintained. New is not always good, I find. Not necessarily.
Iron, iron board, mini bar (1 time complimentary). Doesn’t matter as we had access to Club. Shoe brush. Shoe horn, very handy item to have. Tea. Coffee. Desk with pen and paper pad. 2 toilets in our room ( a full one with toilet bowl, double sink, stand in shower, huge bath tub, Tv and a small one with a sink and toilet to poo).
Went out for food. Lots of restaurant within walking distance 5-15min walk. Came back and found the room to be too warm, uncomfortably warm.
Went up to Club at 17th Floor. Rooms Division Manager Ms Kelly Wang (王倩女士) listened to and assisted us. We were then allocated another room which made us very happy. Mrs gave a thumb 👍🏼 up.
Room: spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, good supportive pillows (even has a pillow menu), bedsheet silky smooth and temp control was just right. No cigarette smell as some commented,. nor paper thin wall that transit sound/noise. Happy happy customers. Thank you Kelly.
Toilet, huge. Amenities provided, all good quality but we are used to using our own toothbrush, toothpaste, body shampoo, body lotion.
Location: good. 10-15min easy walk to Wangfujing area.
Lift/Elevators: good. We never had to wait for a long time.
Club on 17th floor (the bottom floor is 1st floor, in the UK it would be Ground floor). We had lovely time there, breakfast was good. Ala Carte menu and buffet available. Afternoon tea set was repetitive, we ordered one set only for 2 of us. Evening cocktails was good, with hot food. Food varies a bit.
Concierge, bell boys all helpful. Language barrier? Yes. But no problem. Translation app is there, we used google translate, no issue. Baidu better, but my google also good.
We had a late check out which was really good for us. Again Kelly assured us that we could continue to enjoy the Club lounge after our check out and lady staff Sara also made us felt welcome. In fact, I would say all the lady staff there was very kind. Sorry cannot remember all your names. Paiseh (see who would understand this word, don’t think anyone in China would. Taiwanese would, for sure).
Did we enjoy our stay? Yes indeed.
Will we return? Yes, Mrs already planned a trip next year 2026.
Is it expensive? No it is definitely not expensive, but it is costly. One pays for quality and we don’t mind at the slightest.
Do we recommend Regent Beijing to our friends & family? Yes, Wholeheartedly,...
