UrCove by HYATT Chengdu Wenshu Monastery — Hotel in Chengdu

I have been hearing about this China-only brand that Hyatt co-develop with a local company for a long time and decided to try it on this trip. ||I was totally blown away by how they can juggle such low pricing with such good amenities that is usually found in the more expensive hotels - for example the bathroom here actually comes with a bidet with night light, whereas the Hyatt Regency I stayed in Chongqing, had none of that!||The room was actually spacious with a very huge king size bed, and there is also an electronic tablet for you to control all the settings in the room, albeit it can only communicate in Mandarin. Even the curtains and blinds are electronically control. The bed was very comfortable and you can also request for different pillows if you find the four provided too soft. The bathroom was separated from the standing shower, stall, and shower amenities were provided from Portico. The hairdryer was advertised to be a Dyson, but I had another branded one that looks like Dyson, but it works equally well. The refrigerator also comes stock with a few cans of local soft drinks that gets replaced daily, but my favorite is that they actually provide coffee capsules and very good local Chinese teabags from a highly reputable tea specialty store. ||Location-wise, this is not that near any subway stations – I tried walking to the nearest one on one day and it took a rough 15 to 20 minutes, but if you know how to navigate by bus, the bus stops in front of this hotel can bring you easily to anywhere in Chengdu for only RMB2 a trip!
