Stayed here for 4 nights in April.||||Nice clean room on a no-smoking floor No frill set up reminded me of the newer hostels in Europe - comfortable beds but no wardrobes, just hooks and hangers. || ||Guests should be aware that only a kettle and paper cups were supplied (with tea bags) which I find it environmental unfriendly compared with the usual Chinese tea mugs. A CNY100 deposit was paid for our two room key cards, refundable upon check-out. They have a restaurant but we didn't try it as there was a small shop next to it serving cheap local food.||||Location good - although not in the center of the city it is very easy to travel around as the Wenshu Monastery stop is nearby. Metro trip is only CNY2 and it is 2 stop away from Tianfu Squarre interchange Lots of local eateries around although may not be for western stomachs. For these, KFC is just opposite and McDonald is around the corner next to a local department store. The Wenshu Monastery and its pedestrian street is nearby.||||Taxis were plenty with the starting rate at CNY8. We paid just CNY8 from Tianfu Square to our hotel (Yinsi Street). Fare to and from the airport is around CNY65, less than an hour away and it is definitely a better alternative to the airport bus if you are travelling with luggage. Airport bus #300 for CNY10 has a stop at Wenshufang but it takes a long time to the airport. The faster airport bus #303 with fewer stops can be taken at its last stop (actually just a guy selling tickets with a stool) on a side road off the Jinjiang Hotel metro stop. Please note that the Jinjiang Inn being reviewed is not related to this Jinjiang Hotel.||||To get to the Xīnnánmén (新南门汽车站) long distance bus terminal, we got off at the Huaxiba stop and walked about 15 minutes. Official tourist information office next to the terminal. Inside the terminal to the left is an information counter manned by a young lady who can converse in English. Booking of hotels can be done here. Lots of local buses but we didn't try except for one trip - the bus destination is displayed and announced on an electronic sighboard at the front inside the bus. ||||Review's a bit long but I hope this will be helpful for other travellers...
Read moreI stayed one night at this hotel from 1-2 May 2016 and had a terrible experience based on the following:||||1. Staff was not helpful at all. I have been in Chengdu for a couple of days and realised that it was cheaper to travel via Uber/DD instead of taxis (save up to 60-70%). However, a local registered number is required to make bookings which I did not have. I requested to have the front desk help me book a Uber/DD and pay them cash up front (since after making a booking, an estimate of the cab ride would be given and I intended to round up the sum to prevent shortchanging the staff) but they refused, saying it was not their duty to arrange transport for guests and was curt in their replies, brushing me off by telling me to flag cabs along the roadside by myself.||||2. Was given a corner Single A room located by the side street. The streets were NOT quiet at night with loud chatter by people walking by + engines of motorcars and motorcycles revving, waking me up multiple times throughout the night||||3. I was a solo female traveler and the hotel is located on a side street which requires walking along a dimly lit aisle at night (from the subway station). I was dressed in casual conservative clothing but still had guys checking me out from top to toe and blowing wolf whistles which made me feel extremely unsafe and uncomfortable.||||4. There were mosquitoes in the room. I did not realise it until I woke up with multiple bites and was disgusted with the lack of pest control of the hotel.||||Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. There are many similarly priced hotels within the vicinity which I'm sure would have much better service and...
Read moreJinjiang Inns are a very reliable chain of hotels in China. From my experience, you get a basic room that is very clean and has all of the basic services. They are usually conveniently located to public transportation and this one was no exception. It is very close to a subway station and it is a very short taxi ride to the Northern Railway station and to the long distance bus station for Emeishan. We took a taxi but I am sure you could find a bus to these stations as the buses are plentiful and frequent in Chengdu. It is located right by the lovely area of Wenshu Monastery. It is also VERY EASY to take the bus from this hotel to the Chengdu Panda Base. The only drawback is sometimes the Jinjiang Inns can be a little noisy during big holidays but that is because their price and locations make them...
