My employer put me here and reassured me it has 4 stars and is a good hotel. Initial impressions were good - the building looks nice and rooms are pretty good. As time went on, I became increasingly frustrated at the location and amenities. All of the rooms reek of smoke, the wired and wireless connections are essentially useless. None of the staff speak much English (I would expect this for a 4 star hotel in a busy area). The restaurants are a bit overpriced and nothing special. I asked for an iron+board and was sent a very, very dirty ironing board. There are some large buildings around the hotel but they don't have anything useful to travellers really - I ended up going to Liede for most things which meant about 30-40 minutes travelling each way, by taxi or underground to get something to eat etc.. If you really do need to be in this area, I suggest the DoubleTree, just a few metres away, where I used the cafe several times to get a connection stable enough to do email. The DoubleTree is very nice. To put the Internet and English speaking into context, I had much better luck in both areas at McDonalds.||||I ended up looking at the prices of hotels in this area. There's no doubt I was sent here because it's cheap, but actually there are a lot of hotels dotted around in a similar...
Read moreCovenient location, just 5 min walk from the metro station, located beside Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.Staffs are very helpful, especially the front desk. Just ask them when you have any queries and they are more than helpful to assist you. Extra plus point for my trip as they auto upgrade my room from superior twin bed to business twin bed for free!Room is spacious enough for 2 ladies with large luggages, no smoke smell, and their shampoo are rather nice.No remarks for amenities as we were busy travelling around attractions, but here are some extra points:- they could help receive your taobao parcel (as long as the address is correct with remarks for the front desk to receive on your behalf), - they also have a parcel pick up locker at the back of the hotel (will need hotel staff to guide you to location, need staff pass to access backdoor), - you can order Meituan(food delivery)and the food will be delivered to your room by their robot once they reached the hotel (remember to put your surname and room number in the app remarks so the hotel can verify the details and accept the delivery )Will definitely return to this hotel...
Read moreSo glad I chose this hotel for my first trip to China. It is practically next to a metro subway station and within walking distance of significant gardens, and historic and cultural sites (all of which are free for foreign tourists). This hotel is boutique, historic and chic! The staff are amazing, without exception. Even the robots that go around doing chores are amazing! Spotlessly clean. However I must give a special mention to one of the concierge, Kitty. She taught me how to use the subway, and she even wrote instructions on a piece of paper that I could show strangers, should I get confused and needed help getting back to the hotel! She helped me download a local navigation app and also made suggestions of worthwhile touristy places for me to visit. I am surprised that this hotel doesn’t have more foreigners. Most of the guests appear to be local tourists, businessmen and...
