I want to report an incident that happened at midnight of 13th June 2024. My father and mother who are senior citizens staying in room 1603 requested for a different room at midnight because the washroom commode had water leaking and there was a problem with the electrical wiring aswell which was causing current in the water. Upon asking to provide a new room, the receptionist denied saying we are fully booked. The reception people sent a Plummer and Plummer then inspected and asked the hotel to send an electrician since there was an electrical issue. After the electrician checked he called up the receptionist informing that the issue cannot be resolved right away and would require sone time and then finally the receptionist agreed to provide another room.
P.S my parents has to leave the very next day in the morning 6:30 am as they had to fly back to India and all this was happening at 11:30 in the night.
My question here is why was he denied room at the first place when he asked for it informing the commode is leaking. A senior citizen won’t just want to change room for fun right that to in the middle of the night?! Why did the receptionists say that they are fully booked when in reality there were rooms available. Why did a senior citizen had to wait at midnight to get another room when he was in need then later after making them wait at midnight and telling that they can now provide a room.
Please also note that on 10th June 2024 in the same room no. 1603, the bathroom commode was leaking, during that time too he asked for another room and he was not given a new room. The plumber was sent he said he fixed it but the commode still kept leaking little by little.
Is this how harbour plaza treats all their guests?
My father and mother came for 5 days to meet me here in Hong Kong, I requested for them to book harbour plaza as I am staying here aswell since quite sometime in room 902 for my work assignment in Hong Kong.
I myself haven’t been facing cold attitude from the staff where it feels like the staff does not want to help you with anything. The only reason I had to make my parents stay here was because I had my room booked with harbour plaza.
Also I requested for some Indian food items for breakfast for the days my parents were gonna stay at the hotel. The hotel reception denied that aswell saying we cannot request the kitchen staff and to my surprise these 5 days when my parents stayed, harbour plaza did not even keep single Indian option in the breakfast menu which they usually keep in other days.
Not sure why guests are treated like this here. My parents and I have travelled many countries and have stayed in many hotels. We always felt valued where hotel staff always did best to make us feel comfortable and here I got to see something totally opposite.
1 more incident happened at the time of checkin of my parents when they arrived at 8th June 2024, I understand that the check in time is 3pm but if the rooms gets ready will the hotel staff not make sure that they inform us that the room is ready early and they can check in? Especially if there are senior citizens who has come after a long over night travel ? I went to the reception to check weather the room was ready to which without even checking he said no and on asking if he can inform me in my room 902 once the room is ready , he said they will not inform and the room will be ready by 3pm only 2 minutes later I saw that staff not at the reception and I asked the other staff, the other staff quickly checked in the computer and said that the room is ready and gave me the key!
What kind of management is that ? It really feels like some of the staff at harbour plaza are purposefully trying to make it difficult for the people staying...

Read moreWe've had a generally good stay at the Harbour Plaza North Point so far and would recommend anyone looking to stay at a convenient location in HK, to stay here.
I suggest booking the newer rooms on the hotel website for a more comfortable stay. They cost a bit more, but I believe it's totally worth it. My cousins were staying in one of the older rooms and said that the water from the bathtub trickled out too slowly. I hope the hotel can seriously consider upgrading the remaining older rooms for future hotel guests.
Some pros: Excellent location, close to public transportation (buses and Quarry Bay MTR). The airport bus A12 stops right outside the hotel, with the return journey back to the airport at the bus stop just across the street. The hotel is walking distance to the Victoria Harbour front if you fancing a stroll. The rooms are kept clean with daily housekeeping and replenishment of water bottles. The bed and pillows are very comfortable and amenities are sufficient. Air conditioning is good and cooling in the summer heat. The swimming pool deck is super chill and the water is clean. Recommend going earlier in the mornings to avoid the crowds.
Some cons: Check-in process was very slow and the queue was long. We arrived just at around 2:30pm and was told that our room wasn't ready yet, and to return at 3pm. When we went back to the front desk at 3pm, they told us our room still wasn't ready yet. It only became available at 3:30pm, and we had to wait for one hour in total. The hotel hallways/corridors are quite outdated and there is some odd odour from the floor rug. I would suggest to replace the flooring to update the hotel interior. Hotel buffet breakfast is average with not much selection or variety, and the cut fruits seemed overripe. The omelette and fried egg station is the best thing available.
Some more cons: The lifts are unbelievably SLOW. Slow and just very slow. There are 6 lifts in total and it takes AGES for one to arrive. You need to add an additional 10 minutes to your travel time because it takes that long to catch a lift. Also, the housekeeping does not change or replace the used white cups and spoons in the room. I was expecting this to be replaced on a daily basis! Is there a cup shortage of some sort? This is basic...
