Opened in December 2020 (not the best year for hotel openings I’d imagine), Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung occupies a convenient position just a ten minute drive from the airport. That’s why I chose this property for a 5-night stay when attending a conference at adjacent AsiaWorld-Expo.||The property’s interior design is smart if somewhat bland, but is at its best in the lobby with gold-clad walls and an impressive feature chandelier covering almost the whole ceiling. The sleek effect was though tempered by a large quantity of bags being stored adjacent to the reception desks. ||Check-in was smooth, and I was soon on my way to the 8th floor (of 19) and my Ocean View room. ‘Ocean’ might be a bit of a stretch as the water between the shoreline and the neighbouring airport is technically part of the Zhujiang River Estuary, but the view was nevertheless pleasant, even if there was some aircraft noise to be heard at times.||At 26 square metres, my room was not large, but the layout was efficient and incorporated a slim desk as well as a small table, dining chair, stool and pre-set suitcase stand. There was no armchair in which to sit and enjoy the ‘ocean’ view. ||The king-size bed was comfortable, although power and USB-A sockets were only available on one side of the bed - not an issue for single occupancy, but problematic for two guests and unforgivable in such a modern hotel. Continuing this theme of poor user experience, the master light switch was only located on one side of the bed (the opposite side to the power socket), and didn’t turn the bathroom lights off. The reading light switches (of which there were one either side of the bed) operated the opposite lights to those that were intended. ||The hallway featured an attractive open minibar console, including complimentary still bottled water, a Nespresso coffee machine and TWG tea.||The wardrobe in the hallway was narrow, and due to the presence of a mounted iron to the rear along with low level shelving and the mid height position of the safe, meant there was limited full height hanging space. Good quality robes and slippers (including child-sized slippers) were placed in the wardrobe.||The bathroom was bright and elegant, although the brightness identified some water stains on the shower screen. The walk-in shower offered a view through the bedroom, with an electronic blind available to properly screen the bathroom off if desired. The shower floor was ridged (presumably for safety), but in such a way that was really very uncomfortable when standing on it barefoot. This was a shame, as the shower itself was powerful. The mirror extended half over the basin which made face washing and shaving quite difficult. Amenities were by Gilchrist and Soames in reusable bottles. ||Cafe Lantau is the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant on the first floor. Breakfast was extensive, with multiple live cooking stations and drinks waiter-served. Tables were however set quite close together.||Cantonese and Chinese cuisine is on offer at YUE on the second floor, whilst top-floor Sunset Grill is an atmospheric steakhouse and bar, featuring sweeping views across the airport and beyond from both the indoor restaurant and the outdoor (windy) terrace. We dined twice in the evening at Sunset Grill and weren’t disappointed with the quality of the menu.||The Lobby Lounge to the right of reception offers hot drinks, pastries and cakes all day.||A fitness centre, outdoor utilitarian pool and garden (the latter shared with the adjacent Four Points by Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung) are all accessible on the third floor, with the pool requiring you to pass through a curtain of water to enter. Massages and a steam room are available at an additional charge. ||For what is in essence an airport hotel, Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung is an elevated experience, with every amenity you could wish for both short and medium length...
Read moreI stayed at one of the Ocean View Room for my 7 days quarantine and I got to say I really enjoyed my stay there! Day 1 - (after an exhausting long haul flight from the UK, plus lots of waiting and queuing around for hours at the airport) finally arrived at the hotel, there was a little bit of waiting but I understand it is a busy time for all as the hotel staff must ensure everything will run smoothly with the checking in, registering the guest information to their computer system, giving out health and safety information/ information about daily self testing procedure etc...The front office staff was polite and professional and quickly got me a room which I really appreciated. She told me if I wanted the room with the King bed, I may have to wait for 1-2 hours, however, as a solo traveller, It didn't bother me to get a twin bed room which was immediate available so I just chose that room. The room was spotless and lovely, the view was great, and there were 2 packets of antibacterial wipes placed on the table which was handy for wiping down my luggage and backpack.
In-room amenities were great (all the standard stuff were there like toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, conditioner, lotion, shaving kit etc…) and you can also fill a form and request for extra amenities (water, beddings, wet wipes etc…) which will be delivered the next day. I appreciate that they included laundry detergent there so I was able to wash my own clothes during the 7 days and also washing up liquid was available too. There were plates and silverware already placed in the room which is perfect for someone who doesn’t want to eat their meals straight from the food storage box. What really surprised me was the food catering, the menu choices were excellent (at least 4 different options for breakfast, lunch and dinner including vegetarian options and there was always a piece of fruit or a small box of fruit salad included in the breakfast / lunch ) and I love how the hotel added nice little touches to the meal such as adding a tasty sweet cookie (packaged nicely) for every dinner =] and it is really tasty! Honestly, the meals served here are better than some of the restaurants around Hong Kong so awesome job to the hotel catering team! I looked forward to all of my quarantine meals and it does put a smile on my face when I can clearly see someone has really put thoughts into how the food were presented and most importantly, how good it all tasted! Really brighten up the quarantine period, making it less dull =] Superb job! And anytime I had some inquiries or issues, I just call the ‘At Your Service’ and the staff members who picked up the calls were always so professional and polite and swiftly helped me out with my requests or questions =] again, I really appreciate the excellent customer service so thank you!
I would like to thank the hotel management, the hotel team, especially the staff members who delivers the meals daily, the meals were hot upon delivery (every time without fail) which I really appreciated! The food was just excellent, I cannot stress this enough =’] !!! I would recommend anyone who is looking for a quarantine hotel with QUALITY, please choose Four Points by Sheraton and make sure you get the Ocean View Room for the nice view =]! Hope this review will help...
Read moreI stay in about 10-15 hotels a year and for my work have to travel all over North America Europe and recently for the first time here in Hong Kong. the Four Points Sheraton and the Sheraton are both in the same building and the Four Points is a more affordable option but you cannot have access to the pool and fitness centre etc which was fine for me as we saved quite a bit of money by choosing the more economical option. The rooms were however probably of the same upper quality and really just the most comfortable and well designed rooms I’ve ever stayed in. there wasn’t a terrible amount of storage but most people wouldn’t be staying two weeks like i did.. the bed was very comfortable and they just think of everything! my pet peeve is when you cannot control the temperature very well and this room was incredibly responsive and comfortable! it is very hot and muggy in HK and it helped that within seconds the temp is adjusted!||the have water flasks that you go and fill up with purified water dispensers over by the elevator…this is just so intuitive and ecologically conscious as well and you can even get tea ready hit water from the dispenser if you wish. ||The staff who clean the room were just so incredibly attentive and nice and thorough and were so accommodating and had incredible attention to detail! Our staff had Kin and Anna and were just amazing..||The only thing that i would add is a microwave but i get that they don’t want to use a lot of electricity and keep the design minimal. they did have a fridge and tea and coffee station but we were there 2 weeks and it would’ve been great to war|m up leftovers etc. which reminds me, the room service was AMAZING!|we had the sweet and sour prom, the wagyu hamburger, the lava cake, the beef stir fry and many other options and they were all excellent!||the harbour lounge was amazing as well fir hamburgers and simple pub type fare. i wasn’t a huge fan of the buffet but i’m not a very adventurous eater honestly. ||The bathroom is spa like and i’ve never been to a spa but i imagine it would be this amazing!!! the shower is essentially a steam as well it is so spacious and everything you need including lots of storage and a very cool design. |just really the best hotel experience Ive ever had and even made use of the safe and it was so simple..there was no need everything is so safe and trustworthy but just wanted to try it out to keep my laptop and passport for one day…||Downstairs staff was amazing and just everyone is so nice and helpful and mist speak english so well and were very knowledgeable of the area and travel information as far as buses ferry’s etc.||the view from the room faces the water and the airport is just beautiful and so well situated. there are like five other restaurants as well right there on location and you just could t ask for more.|even though i wished they had a microwave I still give this experience |a 5/5 stars!||XIE XIE to everyone there and keep up the great...
