When completed in 1983, Jinling was the only 5-star hotel in Nanjing.||The Hotel was conceptualised and built by a Nanjing diaspora returnee who made his reputation in Singapore, Sri Lanka, and elsewhere. Legend has it that he did not own any shares and his services were honorary, and the completed hotel ended up totally owned by the City of Nanjing complete with management trained overseas.||Fast forward to the present. When an extension to the 600+ rooms was contemplated, he was invited to own up to 49% of the additional 300+ rooms. It is now located in the upper floors of the Asia Pacific Tower connected to the existing hotel.||We stayed on the 52nd floor of the new wing and "the Queen" lived up to its well deserved reputation.||Everything you can get in an international chain, Jinling provides it. The rooms were exceptionally clean, the appointments and furnishings are well thought out, Even the screen and curtain were electrically operated.||The breakfast spread, especially for modern Chinese cuisine, leaves nothing left to be desired. From good aromatic coffee to steaming hot bean curd juice, congee with all condiments, Japanese style okayu to steaming rice with salmon and pickles, nothing was in want.||The service is to be savoured. One flick of your card key, and they have all your info. If you are a repeat diner, even your favourite beverage (for me double coffee espresso, Americano for my wife) is unobtrusively delivered.||For fine dining, we had Huai Yang cuisine (a la Yangzhou/Nanjing) in Mei Garden on level 2. We also had dinner on the 56th floor in the new wing (where breakfast is served) and it was transformed into a hot pot restaurant at night with table top individual induction cookers. What we enjoyed most were the varieties of vegetables, leafy or root, together with exotic sauces. Naturally, the obligatory seafood, wagyu beef and lamb slices were all waiting to be cooked, whether in chicken broth, mala Sichuan soup, or plain hot water, all without MSG. The service, as usual, was par excellence.||What is there not to like? I urge you to try it for yourself and enjoy being...
Read moreFirst time to Nanjing. Stayed 5 nights. Chose this hotel among others because of their well received reviews and convenient location. ||Perfect location: right above metro station Xinjiekou 新街口which is the transfer stop for line 1 and 2. Getting around the city is super easy. Two exits to hotel (exit 6 and exit 20) which are equally convenient. Lots and lots of shopping malls nearby, all connected underground. Hotel has two towers and Jinling tower is the older one with over 40 years of history but recently renovated. ||Superb service: Reception / front desk Miss Chen is welcoming and brings our luggage to our room introducing hotel and facilities. Guest relation officer Miss Vanessa Wei HQ is more than responsible. Noting our room window has sound proof problem, she promptly arranged fixing and making sure everything is all set and repaired within minutes. She noted our last night of stay and WeChat if we need special service and delivered in no time. Very caring and attentive. Calling service desk for iron and ironing board got delivered within seconds. ||Clean room: spacious room, comfortable bedding, sufficient amenities, daily refilled bottled water, free of charge fridge beverage, amazing hairdryer. ||Breakfast: lots of variety, food is good and refilled in time, waiters and waitress are nice and attentive. ||They have a Michelin restaurant Plum Garden for Huaiyang cuisine. Hope can try next time. ||As a 40 year old hotel, wear and tear is expected and inevitable. Can tell their recent renovation is thoughtful and tried to maintain above standard. It is indeed their services, their staffs and guest relation officer which outweighed. Well deserved top notch...
Read moreWe are leaving Nanjing tomorrow after a short stop but having spent two nights at Jinling Hotel we wish we were staying longer. Jinling Hotel in Nanjing is fantastic - great location, nice large rooms, all the facilities you would expect from a top tier five star hotel and even a Dyson hairdryer in the room! But the best feature of this hotel that made our stay special has been the staff at Jinling. We frequently stay at luxury hotels including all the well known international brands and found the service at Jinling particularly top notch. From the bellboys jumping to help with our luggage as soon as we pulled into the hotel to checking in and every smile since, we will be sad to leave tomorrow. Special shout outs to: Ula at reception who patiently explained everything and gave us her wechat which we used to ask questions through our stay and she always responded promptly, Sammi who ran up some additional things for my daughter and was just so friendly and helpful, Liao Lifang and Allen at the health club/pool who explained all the facilities and Miss Liao in particular who seemed to be a very experienced swimmer and giving tips to doing laps and very quick to offer us water and made our trip to the pool a very memorable one for us, gentleman at the cake shop downstairs (unfortunately we didn’t get his name) who gave us coffee as we waited for our pastry order. Through these staff and all others we encountered in our short stay, it is very apparent that this hotel values their customer experience and it is executed flawlessly. We highly...
