Stayed 5 nights. 1st night. Room smelled like it hasnt been cleaned well (think smelly socks on floor) and sheets were like someone who didn't change out of street clothes had lain on it. I couldnt sleep well the 1st night. Asked them to clean well and change sheets next day. Here is the warning if you are a solo female traveler or even as a not very fit male traveler. The garden inn pudong hilton is in a shared building with offices in between the rooms floor and the laundry / gym on 23rd floor. The card access security is a false sense of security! The floors where Hilton Garden Inn are basically not secured floors - at least from the stair cases. There are offices from 2rd to 22nd floor (anyone can enter from 22nd floor or below that) Hilton laundry is 23rd floor. Hilton Rooms are 24th to 26th There are 8 floors of offices from 27th to 34th floor. Hilton rooms are from 35th to 37th floor where anyone from 8 floors of offices can access stairs to your rooms 38th is reception and restaurant Hilton rooms are from 35th to 37th floor.
Security breach. Laundry with 2 washing machines and 2 stacked tumbler dryers are on 23rd floor. I used the laundry at 8pm and at 8.30pm put wet laundry into dryer. At 9.10pm I returned to pick up my laundry from the dryer, and was surprised to see 2 local men with bags sitting outside in the small sitting area. 1 of them followed me into the laundry room when I entered with my card access. The room isn't big and had 1 exit only. I had brought my handphone, room card (obviously!) and was wearing some not too cheap jewelry. (After all I am supposed to be in a secured area and a Hotel in the Hilton chain? ) The young man didn't have card access as a guest should. I asked him in my limited chinese if he was waiting for me, He replied Yes. I was puzzled. If he was a guest, he could have walked in and used the 2 available washing machines as I was only using the 2 dryers. Did I feel threatened? Yes. He was fit and young. If he knocked me out, he has my phone (with all the info and access in my phones) plus the room card. There was no security nearby.
I reported the incident to the night receptionist who didnt speak much english, was inexperienced and didn't obviously had any SOP to report this immediately to the building security. I left her my room info. Next morning I checked with the front desk again. Then asked to meet the manager Megan. She wasnt available. Later that day again I went to see Megan because I was genuinely surprised and curious to know how non guests can access the laundry area on a secured floor. I would NOT recommend this hotel for any traveler because if there were 2 young and fit men against (even) 2 guests, I doubt the 2 can win over the other 2 fitter persons Transport - you can take Line 2 from airport but it's a long walk to the hotel building SinMay Tower 2 using line 2 which stops at Pudong South Road. Or take line 2 to Central Avenue/Plaza interchange stop to change to line 9 for 1 stop at Shengcheng Road. Look at the signage with subway stops in chinese and english. With Line 9 Shengcheng road, there are some steps to L+ mall (Galeries Lafayette), exit building to shengcheng road and cross the main road. Do not use the stairs to exit as it is a long climb esp with luggage! Just know that Pudong South Road is where Yaohan #1 mall is. Exit from near the Montblanc store is (inside Yaohan ground level) and you see a large square. Cross that square and at the side is Shinmay tower 2. Follow signs for Hotel Hilton Garden Inn OR enter mall at the side of the uniqlo store and ask the service counter for Hotel. They don't know the word Hilton in English but...
Read moreI originally have a booking for 4 nights but ended up checking out after 1 night despite being super tired and my mom was just injured a day earlier but we couldn’t afford to stay there no longer. The room we checked in to smell really really really bad, smell like dirty public toilet. We thought after we turned on the A/C it would become better. We went out for some hours we got back and the room was still smell equally as bad as before. I went to the reception to ask for them to do something the receptionist (Ms. Zou) was very very very nice and helpful she took me to another room and asked me if this one is okay. Funny enough the new room also smells but not as bad as the old room but bad enough. But we were super tired so I decided to moved to another room and stayed the night there. The next day when I was showering I can see a black spot on the shower door and some weird red stain, probably nothing serious but it‘s still disgusting. The towel has musty smells. I found an old dry piece of (probably) food under the curtain. It was dry and old and it‘s definitely was not from us. I showed the pictures to Ms.Zou, she was very nice she took note and trying to help us as best as she can. But at that point I wanted to check out, but my mum was very very tired. Then come the other staff could be the manager but I am not sure. She heard that I wanted to check out and she was okay with it. There was no service mind at all. It made me feel worse, like she doesn’t care about us and has no concern about our bad experience. She could have maybe I don’t know say sorry and try to help me but no. I want to check out? Then be it. I was nice 100% I didn’t want ti cause any problem at all. I have to called across the country ti rearrange the car pickup service and then booked the new hotel and packed up 2 big heavy luggages to downstair by ourselves. Also I was almost slip because there was water by the elevator on the floor. Then next day they put...
Read moreI selected this hotel due to its close proximity to the MRT station. It is literally 10 steps away from Xin Mei Union Square (Line 9 Shangcheng Rd Station, Exit 3) albeit unsheltered. Exit 3 connects to the new Lujiazui mall. ||The hotel is located in a hybrid building which consists of offices and shopping mall. There is a security guard at level one of the building who will open the turnstile to get you in, so no worries about accesses. ||Reception is level 38 of the building which is also where the restaurant cafe is located, which gives you a great view of the Shanghai Tower, Pearl Tower etc. ||Toiletries like toothbrush, shower cap, vanity kit et cetera is not provided in room, but you can easily get them from the receptionist. ||Breakfast variety is not wide, but of quality. You have a little bit of everything from dim sum, Chinese dishes, noodle station, egg station, bakes, cereals, salad, coffee machine and fruit juices. Room service closes early though, at 9pm. But they have a robot who will deliver your food delivery order to your room. Super convenient and keeps my son entertained. ||Room is very new, clean and spacious (I booked a King Premium Room). It has a sofa bed which is comfortable, a separate bathroom and toilet area with a huge bath tub and a separate living space with a round table and chairs which is very useful for us to catch up on the work at night without disturbing my son. ||Service is impeccable, from the front desk to the restaurant and housekeeping staff. ||The only complaint I have is the TV channels. All are local TV channels and in Chinese. For an international hotel chain like Hilton I would expect a few English channels at least to cater to non Chinese speaking guests. ||Nevertheless, all in all, it was an awesome stay. I...
