3.5 stars. This is a decent hotel but some things need to be improved and updated. The lobby is beautiful but the rooms are outdated, especially the carpets and curtains which need some major cleaning and dusting. 4+ stars for the food, although the advertised “all-day” room service terminates at 21:00 at the Four Seasons restaurant and 22:30 at the one on the 2nd floor. The bed was quite big and comfortable. If you are not Chinese, you will have a hard time ordering food or any other services, since a lot of these services require Alipay or WeChat, and most of the staff, despite being very nice, do not speak English. Location is very good and prices are fair. I definitely recommend to book a suite due to its spaciousness and benefits, such as the 16:00 late check out. The lounge is not so nice, so I never came back there after my first visit, they only offer the bare minimum in terms of drinks and almost no food. Finally, their spa attendant told me they only offered 2 basic massage services, despite having many other services listed in the booklet, and that the pool closed at 22:00, even though the official closing time is 23:00. In conclusion, it’s not a bad hotel, but too many things are not as advertised. The prices are ok but, for a 5-star hotel, Kempinski is not quite on the level of its competitors such as Langham...
Read moreWe spent two nights at the hotel during our trip. The hotel is in a good location, right in the center of the city, allowing easy access to local attractions and restaurants. The rooms were spacious, well maintained and the cleaning was of a good standard. However, it was clear that the hotel had its best years behind it - the equipment in the rooms was somewhat outdated and worn in places. This was especially evident in the furniture and some decorations.||A big disappointment was the wellness center, which deserves a complete renovation. Its condition was very dated and the facilities were definitely not up to the standard you would expect in a similar hotel. The environment seemed uninviting and outdated, which spoiled the overall impression of the stay.||Another negative aspect was the language problem. Although the hotel looks luxurious, it was very difficult to communicate with the staff in English. Only one member of staff could communicate in English at a reasonable level, which was surprising for a hotel of this category. This deficiency greatly complicated communication regarding basic requirements and questions.||Overall, I rate the stay as average. The hotel has an excellent location and good housekeeping, but could use some updating and improving the language skills of the staff to meet the standards one...
