I travel alot, and I must say this is the WORST hotel I've ever stayed! Cleanliness and hospitality were not priorities - surprising for a hotel. ||1) There was a moldy smell in the bathroom at all times!||2) The tabletops and coffee bar had dust and dirt even after daily servicing. I think they just replaced the towels.||3) They didn't clean the place to eat for breakfast - both the tables and buffet trays. It was a zoo! The staff would only remove dirty dishes. Other hotel clients would randomly leave their used plates on your table. The same serveware would be used in 4-5 different dishes. So if you have severe food allergies, I wouldn't recommend eating here!||4) They would not wash or replace the used coffee mugs, which I of course washed 3x before I used them. They left it there for 3 days. ||5) I went for a massage at the Coastal Club associated with the hotel. The gal that gave me one, #329, spoke to me in English during my entire massage. Although tipping is not customary in China, I offered her a 40RMB tip. She exclaimed loudly, "No! The tip must be 100RMB" - a statement she repeated 4× for the perplexed American. Then she told me, "See you again tomorrow. Ask for me #329." I thought that was strange for a 190RMB massage.||6) My Chinese friend confirmed my suspicion and complained to the spa manager. We went to speak to the manager and the manager had the gal there. The manager stated tips were optional. Then they decided to blame me, saying that it was because I couldn't understand their English. WTH?! The gal spoke about age and her life all in English. I still gave her a 50RMB tip, but I couldn't believe I was called dumb or a liar after she tried to swindle me. ||7) I told the hotel asst manager about the massage incident. He called the club immediately saying his client in room 4xxx was upset. My friend was concerned about security and confronted the manager for sharing my room number.||8) During check out, they have an option to pay in USD. I made the mistake of choosing this option, costing an extra $70 USD. PAY in RMB if you decide to stay here!||9) The front desk was not very friendly and ignored everyone. The staff could not really speak English so it was difficult to communicate. I often got the annoyed attendants when I would ask a question. ||10) They called my friend and accused me of taking a bathrobe after I left the country. First, why would they call someone else for a room I stayed in? Second, if I did take their robe, why was it not asked when I checked out? They even asked me if I needed the shoes I left in the room while I was paying.||11) This next part is just strange...They had a huge sign on the door, "No smoking, no gambling, and no prostitution." But there were 2 condoms in the bathroom - one with a pic of an Asian woman caressing an American man. Even in Vegas, I have never seen this. ||My 1 week in Huawei Grand View Hotel in Coastal City was HORRIBLE! I just couldn't believe the dirtiness of a worldwide hotel and to top it off with such unprofessionalism and security concerns....
Read moreSo, I am writing this review just out of the hotel, and since I am staying here several nights already, I think I can share fair review now. Because... if I would write this review after first night, it would hate review with 1 star.||BECAUSE||The single and most important thing is that: Be sure to take a room WITH WINDOW.||Otherwise, here is what I got when I checked in first.||||The room which I entered in, immediately welcomed me with terrible smell, most close could be described as something like rotten food or similar. I rushed to curtains to get fresh air in... and....there was no window. ||I started to search a source for a smell, i thought maybe someone left something in fridge, opened the door, and door hanged on 1 hinge. Opened bathroom door - ok, smell seemed come from there...||In such a small room with no window, next i did is turned on air conditioner, which then was so loud, that it seemed a airplane engine turned on somewhere near the room.||That was enough, and I went to front desk to ask if there is somewhere where i can escape.||And here is a thing - front desk seems to be NOT suprised seeing me come and asking change a room, as he had already done that zillions of times. He smiled, like "hehe" (I knew you'll come), and asked bell biy show me other rooms.||And so, there is a room at 4th floor, which I ended up paying almost 40% more to the amount initially counted to spend, and yeah... there is no smell room is bigger, and there is something that they call window, and you really can see little bit outside.||||And here's a next tragicomic issue with this hotel. Someone had decided to call it Grand View Hotel, while I guess biggest parts of the rooms have no view at all - no window after all, and then the one room I finally got and I can breathe there - i can see little bit of shopping promenade, through small and narrow window, covered by decorative elements from outside. But it is SUCH A RELIEF after that smelly jail room, that I do not care.||||Now, let me tell about why it deserves 3 stars.||||LOCATION ! Yes, it is SUPER LOCATION. It is INSIDE if Coastal City, so that yoiu gave here zillions of restaurants, shopping malls, Carefours, Starbucks, Coffe Shops and you name it. There absolutely everything and hotel is virtually inside all that. ||||Now you need to decide, if you are able to suffer the things in the room without window - then location is super. Maybe not all these rooms smell really bad, but sorry - I had no wish to test other - this room with this small window is good enough||||And so - because if this super great location management of this hotel things they no need care anything else at all... ||||So, if you choose correct room, and close eyes for "non smiling staff'' like other reviewers told - you will have a great compensation for the location where this hotel happened to be,||Because if you come frequently to China you know that - great 5 star hotel in middle of nowhere with no shops and restaurants outside is also nothing...
Read moreWas about to give up reviewing this hotel thinking it may not be available here but i found it after i finished posting my HK hotel review... nice!! my comments as below.||||LOCATION||My first time staying in Nanshan area and this hotel was recommended by biz associate. I stayed three times in this hotel over a period of 4 weeks, only managed to further explore the area on my last stay before i head out to HK for trade events.||||The beauty of this place is not on the ground floor but is on the 2nd floor! do away with the mcdonalds, KFC, pizza hut and some other food establishments... just venture up the 2nd floor via escalator.. you will be amazed by the shear area that encompass several shopping centres. Yes. This place is COASTAL CITY, WENXIN 5th ROAD.||||I cannot list all the food and shopping establishments as there are too many of them.... ||||Two cinemas are nearby. AEON supermarket is nearby too. Multitude of food are widely available. just take a quick 10 minutes walk and you will be spoiled for choice.||||ROOM||I chosen a rather great value low cost room. RMB358 nett! with breakfast too. I believe is quite a steal, but i think there are only few of such rooms available in this hotel hence they do not usually sell them unless they are near sold out.The next class/range of rooms will shoot up to RMB500++ if i didn't forget. never harm to ask for lowest room rates available. ||||VIEW||No windows. hence no comments.||||BREAKFAST||Normal breakfast which i think is pretty ok. local spread and they served till 10am.||||DINNING||Just go out and explore!||||EXPERIENCE||Due to small room, the toilet will be open, yes, no door to close so if you are staying with someone else, doing business maybe a bad experience. There is a door to prevent water from splashing out during shower.||||Internet speed is alright. Wi-Fi is pretty stable too.||||COMPLAINS and COMMENTS||Overall, 4 star rating for location and value.||The staff are pretty friendly too.The housekeeping team are very friendly and...
