I stayed here for 3 nights during my solo bicycle tour from Cartagena through Colombia. Before writing this review I had acquired a reasonable idea of local accommodation standards and costs, as I had stayed in 15+ hotels and hospedajes in Colombia. I speak Spanish and was therefore able to communicate well with all my host(s).||||Pluses||My spacious 4th-floor room (#406) was peaceful and had a partial view. Enough space 2-3 bikes. (I was allowed to bring my bike into my room). Comfortable queen bed, pillows and thick comforter. Refrigerator. Plenty of storage space. Two bedside tables each with a reading lamp. Nice bathroom with hot shower. Fast wi-fi day and night. Good-sized writing table and 2 chairs. The hot breakfast was better than most and included papaya or melon, eggs or envueltos, arepas, jelly, butter and unlimited hot coffee with milk, coffee tinto and hot chocolate. Good hours (06-10h00). Staff were friendly and professional||||The hotel was modern and well-maintained, and was like a small museum. There were many paintings and local crafts on display, even in the stairwells. It was owned and run by Jorge and his wife Marta. Both clearly liked to put their personal touches on the building and spend time socializing with guests. When I arrived, Jorge took me on a personal tour of the hotel and described several of the art pieces. He took me to the terrace on the roof which had chairs and a good view of the mountains over the rambling rooftops. ||||On my third day Jorge joined me for breakfast, where we chatted with a couple from Pasto in southern Colombia. (Hugo, 63, was a competitive cyclist and invited me to visit him in Pasto when I arrived). Later I carried my bike down to the lobby as Jorge wanted a photo of me and my bike. Hugo joined in. ||||A “D1” supermarket and several fruit stores were within 5 min south on foot. ||||Minuses||The hotel is not as close to the historic center as some of the popular tourist hotels. These are mostly in Candelaria. However it was only 4 km and it would have made a pleasant 1 hr walk. During the week I feel sure there would be buses as the hotel was near a main route. ||||Summary||The hotel was good value at 108k COP total (about USD 36). The hosts were more welcoming than most. I would stay there again.||||My rating: 5/5. Location as measured with my GPS: 4.64141, -74.07477||||Note: Before arriving here (I had not booked), I checked out Hotel Casa Paulina. It was a bust. Much smaller and noisier room (street traffic, washing machines), the Wi-Fi was too slow to be usable for my blog (I tested it), and the lady in charge was brusque. No bikes allowed upstairs. It was 30% cheaper, but Hotel Campin was much better value. If you can afford the extra $ for this place you shouldn’t be...

My boyfriend and I work remotely and require fast, password encrypted, internet, so when the internet at our place mysteriously stopped working, we desperately looked for something nice AND affordable; Hotel El Campin was it. This cozy hotel is located walking distance from multiple bus-stops, supermarkets, gym, and local restaurants (about 12 USD for lunch for 2). The hotel includes breakfast in their rate, has 75 mb internet (we both work from our laptops, and it's VERY fast) and is nice and quite. We noticed a variety of guests, from families, to business travelers - so I'd say it's suitable for all. The staff is very sweet and helpful and goes out of their way to make you...

I had a room on the second floor, very quite because hotel is off the Main Street. Felt very safe because there is a police station next door! Staff were very friendly and helpful, service with a smile. The room was rustic but the hot water works, however could use a little more pressure in the shower. It may be because the hotel is very energy conservation oriented and I applaud that. You are away from downtown which is a good thing. It is too congested. This hotel is about half way between the airport and downtown. Between 8000-10000 COP to go either way. Lots of places to eat and shop including cafes and...

We were charge for a broken tv, that we made the mistake of not checking the first day, especially considering the low standards of the hotel. After the hotel manager Daniela Castro call local police and team up with them, We felt really unsafe, specially not knowing local laws and with 2 more days to stay for medical reasons, we decided to pay the $250 for the tv and just don't come back to that hell hole.
