HOTELES BOGOTA EMBAJADA — Hotel in Bogota, Capital District

Hello there. We reserved the hotel for 5 days online, but when we got to the hotel, we changed to reservation for only 3 days and we paid for 3 days. At the end of the three days when we were checking out, he threatened us that if we didn't pay for the full 5 days, that he would charge are credit card no matter what. He did not let us leave and we told him that we came from Canada and he would not believe us so he said that was going to make us pay even more because according to him we live in Colombia. When we showed him that we had proof he accepted it but he ignored it and did not look at it. We settled the 3 days with another worker there and when we told him that we would wait for the other worker to come so that the worker could tell him about the 3 day agreement we had, he threatened us and said that it didn't matter what the other worker said, that he is the manager and that he can do what ever he wants. He pressured us to sign a paper. Not only that but when we first got to the hotel he changed us to another room without our permission! From 5th floor to 2nd floor. The room was small, cold and no windows. The noise was terrible, you could hear the phone ringing from the 1st floor and the toilets did not flush properly, the sink was broken, and the bathroom smelled terrible all the time. We arrived at Bogota to find that our free transport to the hotel never appeared so we took a cab to the Hotel Casa la Embajada only to find they had no room for us. Communication was difficult so we used an English/Spanish app on the hotel's computer only to find out we were supposed to call from the airport to secure transportation to the hotel (given the language barrier, how would we have communicated this over the phone?). We had booked the hotel on-line & had confirmation, however, there was no room for us. They sent us over (free transport) to what I assume was a sister hotel. It was all right and it was only for one night. The next day we were taken to the airport (free transport) and that was it. Given these circumstances, I am not in a position to reply to any of the questions posed below, however, I am giving an overall rating of "average" because this box needs to be ticked and I don't want to throw them under the bus - it may be a great place, it just didn't...

I stayed one night, the rates charged where higher than what the reservation had shown initially paid cash and no receipt was given for the transaction. We were placed in a room next to the front desk, I asked for a quiet room and the lady at the front desk said they had no other rooms available. ||The rooms and building need a full overhaul. Our bathroom had mold in the ceiling and tile of the shower, very uncomfortable and unsanitary. The bed was clean, yet one could smell the lack of ventilation in the room. ||I personally do not recommend this place to any traveler, as for the rates you can stay at much nicer places in the nearby areas.
