Hotel Villamayor Cabecera — Hotel in Bucaramanga

Several reviews focus on the service which in general we found to be very good. There was a hiccup with our airport taxi booking though. Having been assured at our evening check-in that the taxi would be ordered at 8am for an 8:45 departure, nothing had happened by 8:10 when we went to check and the new person on the desk had no record of our previous request. Just as well we checked (and all was well in the end). ||Check-in itself was an arduous experience, they seem to want way too much information (where are you travelling from and to, how, why etc) and it took for ever. ||We had an internal twin room which even with the internal window open and the fan on was about 5 degrees hotter than the corridor outside. The wifi was very slow and patchy in the room. Worst of all were the beds: very hard mattresses and uncomfortable pillows - we both had a terrible night's sleep.||On the plus side the breakfasts (included in the price) were excellent and the location is a short walk from multiple bars and restaurants near Calle 33.||Two stars overall though I'm afraid, we...

How on earth Booking.com came up with their rating I do not know!!! They did not ask me to review as they knew I was unhappy. Two things avoid this hotel and avoid Booking.com. Firstly yes the pictures may look ok but in reality the place is nothing like the pictures. Not the cleanest of places with a bathroom so small that you have to open the door to clean your teeth. No shelf space whatsoever to place things. Tiny shower with no shower head so your head is blasted with a hard flow of water. Breakfast food that seemed like it had been made a week ago and waving away flies not my idea of fun while trying to pick then eat a meal. Sorry just...

As a "Gringo" I have traveled all over Colombia and this hotel is exactly what I thought it would be.||It is clean, the staff is friendly, the owners are helpful. The room for 1 person was fine. The bed was comfortable, the shower had hot water, and the breakfast was not bad. I was there for 4 days.
