I stayed here for almost a week in early February. At first I booked four nights then added another two because I enjoyed it so much. The free breakfast is awesome because it's actually cooked to order so very fresh and hot, not like the typical buffet of lukewarm food in 99% of other hotels. The burgers are super massive (you can easily split one between two people and be very full), so shout out to the kitchen staff for sure, and the minibar and in-hotel beverage and snack prices were super fare with a wide variety of options. The hotel has a steam room and jacuzzi - before booking I talked to the Front Desk dude (Sebastian, super nice fella, just like all the other staff) to ENSURE these were working. I'm sick and tired of hotels advertising amenities on Agoda or whatever booking site then you show up and hear, "Oh the steam room is under maintenance" or "we're remodeling our pool" when the amenities are key factors I use when deciding where to stay. Why don't they remove those pictures from the listing or post a notice they're not available? Because they'll lose business to other hotels who actually have these things available/working. By the time you show up to the Front Desk the money is gone (non-refundable) so you (the client) gets screwed over time and again paying for amenities that don't exist or aren't available. (One hotel in Medellin that claimed the stream room was "under maintenance" was out-and-out lying. That steam room hadn't been used in years nor was there any work being done on it whatsoever since it was being used for storage of broken furniture.) Anyways, at Aqua the jaccuzi is un-heated outdoors so is more like a cold jet pool which is not my jam at all. It would be greate on a blazing hot day but those didn't happen during my time there; I made use of the steam room every single night and totally loved it. Also, I was given a room with a balcony facing the street. At first I was thinking, "this is going to be way too noisy" since it's an arterial street with a million cars/trucks/un-mufflered motorbikes whipping by all day and well into the evening, but the sound-proofing on the sliding doors was INCREDIBLE so the noise wasn't an issue for me. As for location, it's right in the middle of Granada barrio which is packed with restaurants and random food carts/stalls/kiosks every 2M (as well as a couple dozen hella crazy/desperate homeless people so watch out for them at 02:00), and has this really odd mix of top-end retail shops or huge banking complexes sitting beside crumbling houses, burned out buildings, and/or abandoned sites that look like they've been for sale since 2010 with that signature faded torn Se Viende signage. So it's kind of a weird neighbourhood in general thus the Ubicacion rating. Still - it's only a 15 minute walk to the Boulevard which is SUPER happening on weekends so definitely has that location perk going for it. The only couple of 'strikes' to Aqua on "Habitaciones" resulting in 4 out of 5 stars were that the gym equipment was tarped over and stashed randomly on the roof area making it all but impossible to use, and the mattress in my room is/was VERY old and stiff. Thankfully there was a pad for the fold-out couch that I put under the fitted sheets which made it 80% more comfortable (would not have stayed the extra couple nights without that workaround TBH). I'll likely never go back to Cali as the city itself wasn't really my cup of tea, but I'm happy to give Aqua the "Fully Recommend" rating for anyone else considering...
Read moreEven though this was my first time visiting Colombia, The Aqua Granada Hotel is now my Cali, Colombia home❣️🤗 From the Manager Eliana, whom I communicated with via internet and phone arranged for my arrival and transfer by Waldir, who recognized and found Me, probably from a photo, and escorted me to the hotel, while being a tour guide, too. He was also a de facto concierge for questions I had during my time there. Eliana, Camila, Sebastian, Diana (Princess) at the front desk, along with my Guardian Angel Fabiola, with her Kitchen and cleaning staff of Jessica, Mirela, and and additional wonderful lady who I apologize for forgetting her name, but not her and everyone's professional, yet home away from home approach and feeling ❣️ The mornings of speaking with Fabiola, to order my various delicious complimentary breakfasts, and the room service are a Heavenly reminder of my overall stay, due to the pleasure, leisure and comfort of the interactions, all making for a great vacation❣️👍🏽❣️The restaurants menu has a nice selection and variety of food to try, and is delicious❣️ I had the Pescado at least three times❣️👍🏽😋 I stayed in Colombia for 3 weeks, 2 weeks of which were at the Aqua Granada, including a return from Medellin, and another from Bogota. Additionally, the location is great❣️ With a spectacular rooftop lounge, bar, mini gym with heated Jacuzzi hot tub, that has a great 360 degree view of mountain side, city side, and views of the nearby restaurants, bars and shops that you will easily stroll and walk to enjoy❣️ It is directly adjacent to a major expensive hotel chain, for at least a third of the cost, and can be nowhere near as personal, personable and enjoyable as the Aqua Granada Hotel and staff❣️ I can say more, yet, as I've said, it is my new home away from home❣️Check it out online, and what you see is what you get, and will enjoy❣️👍🏽 Cali, and Colombia are action hot and...
