I came back here a week later with an additional 7 people to show how good it was and it was embarrassing how bad this experience was. First the was a hair on the empanada dish. My sister got parmesan cheese with her meal even though we told them we were vegan. Then my girlfriend found aluminum tinfoil in her dish which they offered to replace with a free meal , after multiple checks about gluten being in a dish they said no soon as I tasted it, there was soy sauce marinated tofu which main ingredient is wheat which I experienced stomach pains within 15 min. Then when it came to the bill we were charged for tamales which we asked for but they didnt have, so they removed it but the bill they hand wrote didnt add up. Then they re wrote it and got a different amount 3 times. Finally got it right in the last attempt. This was my girlfriends favourite restaurant in the entire world and was super excited to bring me when we traveled back to her home country from Canada. This was a big let down. On top of that, in response to my sister's facebook review they replied with lies saying we changed the bill our selves and that we put the hair in dish and that we were laughing about them not having meat in their dishes which is laughable since we are vegan and animal rights activists. Let's get something straight, they knew I was celiac and they still fed me a meal with gluten, I didn't as for it to be replaced and I didn't as for it to be taken off the bill, I just didn't eat it. I did however order a mocha and a dessert. I find it terrible that they are trying to save face instead of apologizing or trying to rectify a poor experience. It may have been a good restaurant once upon a time however in my recent experience it was...
Read moreAs two meat eating blokes on the hunt for a world bettering, meat-free detox, we were frankly rather disappointed by our bland and somewhat pricey meal at this previously well reviewed establishment. The juice was reminiscent of weak orange squash poured by a stingy aunt. Willing to look past our disappointing beverages, we moved on to our soup. To our surprise, the cream of tomato soup was actually more akin to a tin of Tesco's bolognaise sauce heated until lukewarm and garnished with herbs. The Oriental consome did indeed have Michellin quality, however this was solely due to the rubbery lumps of tofu bobbing about like unloved jellyfish. The Shawma Sandwich main course was saved by a few precious tasty falafel chunks but otherwise had the blandness and texture of eating broken Ryvita. The service was slow but never intolerable and we shall not be returning in the...
Read moreWe ate here for dinner one evening but won't be going back. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The fruit juices we had were delicious and the starters (empanadas & fried plantain) were good if a bit bland.
However the mains were the worst vegetarian food I have ever eaten. The Parrillada Leo was lukewarm by the time it had reached us. Grilled banana was served instead of plantain, the lentil roast had peppermint in giving it a taste akin to toothpaste, and the corn on the cob was tasteless as if it was stale or old. The other main, a tofu and quinoa burger, was better but not by much and tasted bizarrely of cinnamon.
Would recommend for the juices, just don't...
