After returning from sightseeing,I found my room had been ransacked,my camera and other smalls had been stolen...i immediatley reported this to the main desk clerkI,who laughed ...I asked for my valuables from the hotel safe..It took 2 keys to open.of which i had one.. They opened it and replied there was nothing in it.that i had removed my cash and my passport earlier in the evening. Panicked,i phoned my costa rican attorney, itold him what was going on and he asked to speak to the clerk..after a few monents...the clerk told me to return to my room, and look again....I did.accompanied by 2 hotel securitymen.Upon entering my room,i found the missing items wrapped up in a dirty towel on the bed in plain sight.I packed up my things and returned to the desk athe security men by my side.Angry now about my episode with the talamanca personal,I demanded my cash and passport.....Again,the desk clerk told me to go look in my rental car in the hotel garage..Again,the 2 security men walked with me to my car.as we approached,I could see the trunk slightly open.we looked in the trunk and low and behold,my cash and passport had magically appeared in my car trunk ..The 2 guards laughed and walked away..As i started to back out of the parking spot.i heard the familiar sound of a flat tire.i checked and found someone in this secure hotel parking garage had stuck my tire with a knife...i couldnt wait to get out ofd this evil hotel.....I learned alot about costa rica that night..ive returned to costa rica over 38 times over 20 years.but my night at the talamanc was one of my worst times.I will never forgive The TALAMANCA HOTEL for that horrible expierience in...
Read moreWe stayed in this hotel the last night of our honeymoon. It had been recommended highly by some people that we had met during our trip. Their standard room was very reasonable. About $45.00 and they said it included breakfast. We thought is sounded good. When we arrived there, the "famous" top floor bar was mysteriously closed for the evening, and the hotel restaurant had closed earlier as well. We went to our room, which was sparse, but seemed fine. We turned down the covers to jump in bed, and found what I can only sum up as about 100 pubic hairs all over the bed. I immediately went to reception to tell them about the lack of clean sheets on the bed...the man seemed suprised and moved us to a different room, with two beds in it. We turned down both beds, and neither had hair in them, but each set of sheets were severely stained. My husband and I ended up covering each bed with our clothes and sleeping on our clothes instead of the extremely soiled sheets. We inquired about our included breakfast upon checkout in the morning and were greeted with blank stairs, and told that breakfast is never included in the price of the room. I know it may seem like a possible language mix up, but I speak fluent spanish. I asked multiple times about the breakfast being included to be sure before I booked the hotel. I can only sum this hotel up as an absolute waste of time and money unless you have no issue with dirty beds, and them lying about what is included with...
Read moreOur stay at this hotel was a last minute decision without any prior booking. To give the hotel credit their check in was open and friendly at 10pm and we were given a room no problem. The hotel room itself was okay, clean and had AC. However, if you want quiet I do not recommend this hotel, it’s located on a main road and the noise from it is clearly heard. Another annoyance were the thin curtains that hardly held out the light in the morning. There were no hand towels provided and the bath towel provided for each person were very small. Upon checking in we were told breakfast was included, it turns out breakfast included equates to a slice of watermelon/papaya and two slices of toast with either a cup of tea/coffee/water. The breakfast staff were abrupt in their manner to explain anything above this is at additional cost. I feel that upon checking in it should have been made clearer how limited the included breakfast is. |I’d only recommend this hotel if your just after somewhere to put your head down...
