Moana Surf Resort — Hotel in Nosara

We stayed at Moana in November 2020 and it was a great experience. The owners Tala and Dani along with their entire staff were extremely friendly, accommodating, and generous. The property is beautiful, the rooms are clean, and it was really nice having a kitchen with a full size refrigerator and appliances for groceries. They also brought us a delicious breakfast each morning right to our room. The wifi was very fast and reliable. My 5 year old son started virtual kindergarten, and was able to complete every class online in our room. The property is also very safe and secure.

But the best part of Moana is the location. It is within walking distance of everything. We didn't have to rent a car during our stay which was great. All the great restaurants are less than a 5 minute walk away. And if you surf, their private beach access cannot be beat. We walked from our room to the surf barefoot in what felt like 90 seconds. And we saw hummingbirds and butterflies on the path! But if a 2 minute walk sounds like too much, they've even got a surf cam that you can check to what's going on right out front.

Being new to the area, both Tala and Dani really went out their way to help us. They are truly great people.

My wife and I have stayed here two years in a row for a week and we could not recommend it more. The location is perfect -- as close to the beach as you can possibly get which is spectacular for a walk, surfing, and sunset. It is also an easy walk/bike ride to most of the other places you will want to go in town for dinner, etc. The family who runs Moana is amazing all four of them -- they could not be nicer and more welcoming and you feel like you are staying at their home. The included breakfast is delicious and can be customized to whatever you might be looking for. The rest of the staff is also great and will help you set up anything you need during your stay in Nosara. We have stayed both times in the Mar room which is perfect for couples but we have also seen families staying in some other other rooms and having a great time. The surfing there is great for beginners to advanced surfers. They recently completed some wellness amenities that we didn't get to use but will be a great addition! We just spent a week at Moana and loved it!! It’s a small little boutique type hotel, with a few units and a shared pool, and it is literally a 1-minute walk to the beach, it has its own path to the beach, which is very unique in Nosara. The owners Danny and Tali are super chill, and warm and welcoming, and add to the unique charm of the place. There was always amazing music playing. The villa we stayed in was great, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with plenty of room for a large family. It was very clean, good bathroom, with a great shower with strong pressure. The bed was super comfy. Wifi and AC worked well. There was an amazing breakfast served each morning which was lovely, and all the staff were super friendly and aimed to please. The location of Moana is also superb, not only walking distance to the beach, but also very close, just 4-5 min walk to everything in the main Giones town.
