An utter disappointment. I had high hopes based on the pictures and descriptions on Booking. com, but reality couldn't have been further from the truth.||Dark and Dingy Rooms: The room we were given had no natural light whatsoever. The shutters were screwed shut, meaning the only option for natural light was to leave the doors open, inviting in a swarm of bugs in to the room. The overall atmosphere was claustrophobic and unpleasant.||Damp and Musty Odor: On top of the lack of natural light, the room also emitted a damp, musty smell possibly from the aircon, or just damp in the room. Unsure but again, very unpleasant. ||Deceptive Images: The images on Booking. com are highly deceiving. They paint a picture of a quaint, charming hotel, nice light and airy rooms, but the reality is far from it. The beds are also very small.||Unhelpful Receptionist: The receptionist we encountered was rude, aggressive, and unhelpful. When we expressed our dissatisfaction with the room and requested to move, she initially claimed the hotel was fully booked, which was clearly a lie. Only after challenging her, seeing online that multiple rooms were available for the full duration of our stay, did she reluctantly offer alternative rooms. She didn't allow us to actually go into the rooms and see them, but these rooms at least had a window, so we had to make a judgment from peering through the window of yet another dark and dingey room. None of which were much better.||The common areas of the hotel appeared neglected and untidy. The pool looked fine to be fair, but there were no staff at the pool bar and the 'games area' looked abandoned. ||The hotel is located a considerable distance from the beach, definitely not a walkable distance, and transportation costs quickly add up with taxis charging $10 or more for each trip. There is apparently a local bus. ||The hotel is also located on busy main road, other reviews mention the noise.||We made the decision to move hotels. Despite the receptionist assuring us we could cancel our reservation without charge, we were unexpectedly forced to pay for the first night upon departure, amounting to nearly £500. While this is the policy of booking . com, clearly the receptions was able to cancel without charge and just chose not to.||Rescue at Hotel Parador Nature Reserve & Spa: We ultimately decided to cut our losses and switch to Hotel Parador Nature Reserve & Spa, which, though more expensive, provided a complete contrast in terms of quality and service. It was a decision that salvaged our holiday.||Not Worth the Price: Hotel Villas Lirio is a complete disappointment and a waste of money. Don't be fooled by its appearance online. Save yourself the stress and opt for a larger, more reputable hotel closer to the beach. ||I work in the luxury travel industry and have travelled extensively. Under no circumstances would I recommend this hotel to my...
Read moreThis hotel was not at all what it seemed in the pictures. As we walked into the reception area there were old Christmas ornaments as decorations on a shelf that gave the hotel an automatic cheap/creepy feel. The floors and walls looked grimy. When we walked into our room - the most expensive room at the hotel - The smell of mold and mildew over took me. We opened every window and balcony possible to air it out and give the place a chance. I laid awake during the night letting the cheap red satin comforter barely touch me when I found myself gasping for air. I had a full on asthma attack! I haven’t had one in years. As I sucked on my rescue inhaler I was accompanied the rest of the night by the sound of motorcycles flying by the hotel. Across the street from the hotel is an abandoned tattoo shop and a locals Kwiki Mart style shop where drunks were hanging out. This is the first time in my life we packed everything up and left first thing in the morning. Our son felt nauseous the next morning and said he could not breathe. There are much nicer places to stay at Manuel Antonio - do not waste your time or money...
Read moreThe hotel was very nice, but there were a few things that could have been better. Even though we booked far in advance, our party’s two rooms were very, very far apart. Some of this may just be the way the hotel was set up, but we would have appreciated a warning that we would be so far from the rest of our group. The pool was nice and the breakfast was decent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Overall, the grounds were lovely. However, the elevator was broken while we were there and we had to climb a ridiculous number of stairs. I’m not sure how it would be with the elevator, but without it the hotel was not at all disability accessible. If someone in your party will need accessibility accommodations, I would definitely call before booking to check on the elevator and get a room in a good location. That being said, the overall location of the hotel was great. Parking was a little difficult, but it was very conveniently located to Manuel Antonio and not far from town...
