Don't know why everyone is raving about this place. We shared an appetizer, ordered two entrees, and had dessert, and the meal got progressively worse as it went on.
The ceviche and chips were really good, and the fajita I got was satisfactory but nothing special. However, my husband ordered the seafood pasta, one of the most expensive items, and the quality was not at all worth the price. The sauce was watery and by the time he finished fishing out the meat and noodles, it looked like he had a bowl of soup leftover.
We thought dessert would make up for that, but we were wrong. We got the passionfruit cheesecake, and it was by far the worst thing we've eaten in Costa Rica. The thin layer of passionfruit gelee on top had a good enough flavor, but it was so little that it couldn't save the rest of the slice from tasting like a stick of salted butter. The texture was nothing like any other cheesecake we've ever had; it was fluffy and almost gelatinous instead of dense and creamy, and again, it seriously tasted like butter with just the tiniest hint of fruit. And the crust, which is the part that should taste a little buttery if anything does, was flavorless. Terrible mouthfeel AND taste.
Also, the table we were seated at was so small that there was barely room for both of our plates once they arrived.
Edit in response to the owner: We ate everything because we are not wasteful people, even when don't like something very much. And we never used the word "delicious" in relation to any of your food... we nodded when asked if everything was okay early into our meal,...

If you want to get away from the touristy spots, eat delicious local food and enjoy great service, then come here!
🔥WHATS SPECIAL? Service, Food. And they have an Open Kitchen. You can Watch your meal being prepared in front of you :-)
🥙MENU: I had the vegetable rice, which was divine. It had a lot of flavor through spices and herbs (in many places food is quite bland so this was a nice change) and it was a large portion.
If you fancy a Traditional Casado (they also have vegetarian option) they offer it until 6pm only.
💵PRICE: For rice and a fresh Mango juice, I paid 6750 Colones. That’s at least 1/3 less than in most places.
🪪PAYMENT: By card (no fee) and cash
💁♀️SERVICE: Wonderful service provided by our host. She was very attentive and made me feel like a valued customer. 5*!!
Highly recommend you visit Cerdo Feliz during your stay at...
Read moreI'm eating here right now and this is our third visit. We decided that this is THE place for great food that's very reasonably priced in the area. Service here is also very friendly and they play great music.
It's a bit tucked away from the main strip but definitely worth the trip. Cerdo Feliz is an open air restaurant that has a great view of the forest.
My wife and I love the burritos here. They're full of meat and quality well balanced ingredients of vegetables and rice). Comes with a side of fries.
If you're looking for a unique spin on guac and chips, get their guac and chips. Guac is amazing and their chips are house made. They're more like large corn fritters with slices of plantain. Really tasty.
Go there for lunch for a huge plate of casadas ( Costa Rican dish of meat, rice, beans, plantains, and salad) the bistek here is so smokey and flavourful.
We will most likely be coming back here tomorrow morning for breakfast. That's how much we...
