I’ve just returned from 16 days at the Hilton Nicosia, and I can honestly say I was treated like royalty. Wherever I travel in the world I tend to choose Hilton hotels, as they always set a good standard – but Hilton Nicosia went above and beyond.||||Location & Atmosphere:||Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus, so you’re not by the beach – but that’s what makes this hotel perfect for a truly relaxing, chilled-out holiday. In August, many locals head to the coast, so the Hilton becomes a quiet, calm retreat where you can completely unwind.||||Breakfast to Remember:||Breakfast here is an absolute feast and the highlight of our mornings. There’s a dedicated section for fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts, Greek yogurt, and fruit yogurts; a hot station with every ingredient for a full English; and the wonderful Chef Louis who makes eggs, omelettes, or French toast exactly as you like them (or will happily surprise you – our favourites included a masala omelette and a mushroom omelette with quinoa and avocado). There’s smoked salmon, cold meats, cheeses including halloumi and blue cheese, freshly baked breads and pastries, and even a natural honeycomb on display. Drinks range from juices, teas, and coffees to vodka and sparkling wine for Buck’s Fizz or Bloody Marys, plus detox waters. You can enjoy it indoors with air-conditioning or outdoors under fans – and if you’re lucky you may be joined by Marshmallow, the resident hotel cat, who has a soft spot for bacon and salmon!||||Executive Lounge:||We were fortunate to have access to the executive lounge, which was superb. During the day, it offered fruit, sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, Turkish delight, sparkling water, and a wide choice of drinks. In the evenings (6–8pm) there was an amazing spread: soups, breads, pasta, a daily meat dish, couscous or rice, plus a fish option. Favourites of ours included lamb chops, beef stroganoff, mushroom risotto, pork fillet, and beautifully cooked salmon. From 6–8pm, there was also a full range of alcoholic drinks available, including vodka, gin, rum, red, white and rosé wine, and beer – making it a perfect spot to unwind before dinner.||||Dining:||We sampled the hotel’s dining options too, with our last day being particularly memorable – at the Mint Restaurant we enjoyed lamb chops, potatoes with sour cream, colourful vegetables, and chips, followed by desserts made from scratch: strawberry tart, rich chocolate cake, and an unforgettable tiramisu. Later that evening, we were treated to Kleftiko, a traditional Greek dish that is an absolute must-try. The Hilton also offers Greek and Japanese restaurants onsite, while nearby you’ll find a Jamie Oliver Italian and even a McDonald’s.||||Rooms & Comfort:||Our room was spacious, with a super king bed and luxury pillows – we slept like babies! Towels, dressing gowns, slippers, and all bathroom essentials were provided (body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion). There was plenty of wardrobe space too, which made unpacking easy.||||Pool & Relaxation:||The outdoor pool is huge, with sunbeds always available – no need to wake up early to “reserve” one. The water is consistently neck-height (I’m 5’6”), perfect for a cooling dip when temperatures hit 35–42°C. No inflatables or balls are allowed, which meant it was peaceful and calm – ideal for proper swimming and total relaxation.||||Guests & Atmosphere:||We met a lovely mix of people from all over – Austrians, Germans, Australians, Brits, and local Cypriots who use the hotel facilities. It created a warm, international atmosphere without ever feeling crowded.||||Getting Around:||The Hilton provides a complimentary shuttle bus into town, and if you want the beach, regular buses run to the coast for around €10–12, making it easy and affordable.||||Final Thoughts||||Hilton Nicosia exceeded every expectation – from the exceptional food and facilities to the comfort of the rooms and the friendliness of the staff. This is a hotel where you can truly relax, be looked after, and feel special.||||I’ve stayed at many Hiltons worldwide, but this one will always hold a special place in my heart. I can’t recommend it highly...
Read moreI am writing to share my disappointing experiences during two separate visits to the Hilton Engomi for important conferences, both last winter and the one before.
Upon arrival at the hotel on both occasions, I was wearing a very heavy coat due to the cold weather. Naturally, I approached the entrance staff and politely asked if I could leave my coat with them. To my surprise, I was met with a cold and dismissive response, simply being told, “That’s not our responsibility. Go to the conference area.”
This lack of basic hospitality was shocking, especially since I was wearing high heels, which made it quite difficult to carry such a heavy coat around.
Once I entered the conference hall, I was again met with unprofessional and cold behavior from the staff handling the event. When I asked if there was a place to hang my coat, I was pointed to a single coat rack located behind the door of the hall which was supposed to serve over 300 guests. Unsurprisingly, it was completely overcrowded, with coats piled on top of each other and many lying on the floor unattended.
This was in stark contrast to my previous experiences at other Hilton locations particularly the Hilton in the city center where staff were respectful, helpful, and professionally managed guests’ belongings. In fact, I’ve stayed at numerous Hilton hotels in cities like Paris and London, and I’ve never encountered such a lack of courtesy and service at a Hilton-branded property.
Most concerning, however, were the comments I heard from several other guests who felt they had experienced racist behavior from the staff at Hilton Engomi. I sincerely hope that’s not reflective of your brand, but it is extremely troubling to hear.
This message is not about a coat it’s about the overall attitude and unprofessionalism that left me and others with a very negative impression. I hope you take this feedback seriously, as it does not align with the standards one expects from a global hotel chain...
Read moreA Truly Memorable Experience at Hilton Nicosia
We recently hosted our baby boy’s baptism in Nicosia, Cyprus, and chose Hilton Nicosia as the venue for both the celebration lunch and the accommodation of our guests, and we couldn’t have made a better decision.
From the very first interaction, the level of professionalism and care shown by the team was exceptional. The Food & Beverage Supervisor Kleio Alexi, Groups & Events Manager Niki Andreou and C&E Account Executive Styliani Papalazarou were incredibly helpful and accommodating during the planning stages, ensuring every detail was thoughtfully considered. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by George Constantinou from the front office, who made check-in seamless and set the tone for the entire stay.
The event itself was beautifully executed. The food was outstanding, the service impeccable, and the entire team, from the staff at the bar to the Director of Operations Mr. Aris Aristou, treated us and our guests with genuine hospitality and attention to detail. Everyone went above and beyond to make the day feel truly special, and their warmth and professionalism stood out in every interaction.
As a Cypriot who left the island 14 years ago, returning to Cyprus to celebrate such a meaningful occasion with friends and family was incredibly emotional. Experiencing the renowned Cypriot hospitality in such an authentic and elevated way made me incredibly proud, not just of the event itself, but of where I come from. It reminded me why Cyprus will always be home.
A heartfelt thank you to the entire team at Hilton Nicosia for making this milestone so unforgettable. We wholeheartedly recommend the hotel for both events and stays, you’ll be in...
