If you want a fine but somewhat underwhelming experience then stay at the coral beach hotel. My friend and I stayed here for 9 nights. I will start this honest review with three good points:||Service and wait staff: the porters, restaurant staff, and bar staff were all incredible. They were lovely and friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.||Buffet restaurant food: we went to the international cuisines night and the Mexican night and both times the food was excellent and a huge variety to choose from.||Housekeeping: fresh towels every day, beds made and room cleaned when requested, no complaints here.||The next points are unfortunately negative but I have to be honest with the amount of money we paid vs the experience we got here.||Catfished - As you enter the coral beach hotel, the lobby and communal areas are very impressive, extremely well kept and the design of the hotel in general is really lovely. However, as soon as you walk through to the rooms it feels neglected. There’s horrid old smelly carpet in the hallways, patched and coming up, the doors themselves are filthy and worn, and the glass doors have filthy fingerprints all over them. The water fill point near our room that said ‘cold water’ was lukewarm for our entire stay despite asking them whether this could be fixed.||Rooms - Our room seemed as if it hadn’t been updated for decades. The flooring was worn and dated, the bathroom tiles were the same, the shower and bath was not what you’d expect from a 5* hotel. The furniture was all old and scratched, rickety stained chairs and a grubby desk. On the balcony the fencing had old flakey paint and splintered wood coming off. It didn’t look or feel deep cleaned at all.|It felt like as soon as you go round the corner of the impressive lobby, past all the lovely decor and fancy furniture and flooring, they’d left the rooms and hallways to deteriorate - perhaps because there is a wedding in the hotel nearly every day and the initial image of the hotel to wedding guests matters more to them than people staying on the ground floor.||Breakfast buffet - really nice selection of food here, the only complaint I have is the stations by the coffee machines were all filthy and the cupboards covered in drops and stains. One of the coffee machines was also malfunctioning.||Hygiene - They provide guests with reusable water bottles in the rooms to borrow. I opened one to use and the smell coming out of it was horrific like something died - i discovered it was full of mould. On complaining about this to reception, they hastily took the bottle and replaced ours without an apology or an assurance that they wouldn’t just put it in someone else’s room. The reception staff also just seemed confused all the time - we wanted to use the hotel gym once and they told us it opened at 9 when it opened at 8. ||Pool - The swimming pool is way too small for the size of this hotel. 700 sunbeds crammed next to each other and one swimming pool is not sufficient for a 5* resort. The pool was full of people with floats (apparently not allowed) and kids jumping in splashing everyone (also not allowed). People playing ball games in big groups took up a large part of the pool as well. The pool floor and drains were green with algae and pretty dirty. The songs played every day were the exact same 20ish songs in the same order which we thought was lazy.|The toilets down the steps near the kids pool are filthy and make you feel like you don’t want to touch anything, like public toilets.||‘Entertainment’ team - they were nice and friendly but at one of the evening parties seemed to make it all about them, playing songs only they as a group knew, dancing in a circle and leaving everyone else just standing there awkwardly. They did the same aqua aerobics routine every day with the same songs. It didn’t feel like they were doing a lot for holidaymakers.||The little details matter when you call yourself a 5* resort, and I think that at one point in time a long time ago this hotel was genuinely 5, but over time they got lazy with it. This hotel...
Read moreHad a week here in July and didn’t want to leave! I was with my wife, mum and step-dad.
Food was excellent, and available almost all day. Every meal was superb, with great variety in the buffets.
”Premium” restaurants - we ate at ‘Calypso’ and ‘Pizza/Pasta’ by the pool. Calypso is fancy with good food, but less exciting atmosphere. Pizza/pasta by the pool is better - fun & relaxed with great food. Those views at night are fantastic.
Drinks great too. Wines were good (sparkling best). Beers on tap (Keo and Leon) were great, spirits good too.
General atmosphere is excellent. Stunning views, & the outdoor sofa area on the bar patio was our favourite place. Facilities & activities very good - squash court, table tennis and gym (well equipped). Main swimming pool always busy, but indoor pool helps. Main pool being open later for adults would help. It'd also be good to have more than one hot tub. Access to the hot tub from the indoor pool would help, as the door between the two was locked - annoying!
Sadly a number of negatives too. We were disappointed with our rooms (Sea View 3512 & 3514). They weren’t as nice as they looked online, views were partly quite rough; and our “double bed” was two singles pushed together - moved apart in the night - very annoying. The rooms felt quite outdated. We had a “courtesy room” on the last day, and that felt nicer than ours. The safes in our rooms barely worked, and there was no big light for the main area.
Minibar disappointing too. No alcohol, and it was only all inclusive for the first drinks, after which we’d need to pay for refills. The bar was quite a way from our rooms, so would have been nice to have a few beers to drink in the room.
We were woken every morning by furniture being dragged around a room above us - probably cleaning - very frustrating and noisy. Our last day, we were woken by DRILLING - unacceptable, should be done when no guests are in nearby rooms. We were also kept awake 3 nights by a man shouting and banging on a door near ours; then children and a hen party shouting outside, then lots of people made noise in the corridor. Downsides of a big hotel.
Having paid all inclusive, we heard about “all inclusive plus” - access to 2 extra restaurants and other benefits. We then found drinks weren't all inclusive between midnight & 1am. All inclusive should be ALL INCLUSIVE. To ask these guests to pay for drinks is just greedy. We understand some restaurants are “premium” and need paying for, but not drinks after 12am. This needs to change.
Much that we read online or in the hotel was inaccurate/contradictory. It was a considerable amount and became irritating: “24 hour cigar lounge” - bedroom information folder - nobody knew anything about it; Squash - Read that it cost €6 to hire rackets. This was free - great, but made us consider not playing because of the €6; Archery - Read online the hotel offered it - nobody had any idea; Minibar - refilled daily - didn't happen; Minibar fridge - Read we’d be charged €15 if we kept items in the minibar fridge - we then found a card saying you could do exactly that for no charge. These contradictions are irritating and meant we missed things that would have been useful to know correct information about. Just a few examples, there were plenty more.
It’s a lot of criticism, but important for others to know so they can try to avoid it. I also hope the hotel read this for improvements. I wanted to give 5 stars as I loved it and enjoyed our week. On reflection though, there are areas that need sorting. Rooms, two single beds, being woken every morning and the amount of misinformation shouldn’t happen; as well as not being fully all inclusive.
That said, the hotel is stunning, and offers a wonderful break to all. Also a special mention of our favourite barman - Aous - who really helped make it special. He was so friendly, helpful, humble and kind, and never left us wanting for a drink!! Thank you Aous!
We loved it, and would certainly go back - especially if they fix these points. Thank you for a memorable and...
Read moreMyself and my partner came to the Coral Beach Hotel & Resort for my birthday for a 7 day stay in the middle of march.
The first thing I must do is give a huge shout out to the bar tender Aaron. We met Aaron on our second evening and we were lucky enough to have him for the remainder of our stay. Not only did this bar tender give us the best cocktails we have tasted, but provided a professional and friendly service, along with some brilliant memories. He was polite, good for laughs, gave great advise on places in Paphos to go and just generally a great guy. Even on the days when there was more pressure on the bar due to business in hotel such as the weekend of the carnival/festival in Paphos, he still lived up to his reputation of providing the best drinks and great service. Definitely deserves a promotion.
I would also like to mention that the reception team were also very friendly and gave us some great advise on getting around Paphos and helpful with any questions we had. Valentina is one of the receptionists names we remember. She was always soo welcoming and smiley.
We came in march so there was a mix of sunny and cloudy weather. Even of the worst day it was still nice and warm in Paphos.
Our hotel bedroom was overlooking the sea, it is an upgrade I would highly recommend. Being able to hear the sea at night whilst everything else is quiet is soo beautiful, and again waking up to this sound. It's magical. It's not too much more either. Lovely size, we just wish the beds were not twin as they kept sliding apart from each other. It would be good to maybe find something that can weigh the beds together if they are not needed as twin beds to stop this happening. We did have a few nights where the WiFi kept cutting out and the TV did not work properly, maybe an influx of too many guests arriving that weekend for the festival but apart from that weekend, we were able to get wifi all the way down on the beach closest to the hotel with full signal bars.
The spa facilities at the hotel were good. There is a wide range of massages and treatments they offer and with all inclusive you are able to use the sauna, steamroom, jacuzzi and indoor swimming pool for free. We did benifit from this every day of our stay.
The food at this hotel was incredible every evening. If you are all inclusive, try not to miss lunch, some of the lunch options we had were more interesting than the dinner options at times, although both lunch and dinner were really nice every time. Breakfast seemed to be the same every morning. Not a bad thing but may have been nice to see some different options possibly. Dinner starting at 7pm did throw us off a bit as the sun would go in around 5pm so we had to use the spa for atleast 2 hours to fill the gap. Would have been nice for dinner to begin a little earlier. The waiters were very helpful and chefs always very nice as well.
There are some lovely excursions available, I would definitely recommend visiting the blue lagoon and aphrodites bath. Some excursions take you to both, definitely worth it even in the colder season. Just jump in the blue lagoon, don't think about the cold, it goes after a moment. There is also an archaeological site at the back of the hotel , take a left on the beach, up the long steps and curve to the right. €2.50 each. It's only a little site but it is lovely when the sun is out.
If you are a cat lover, there are some really friendly kitties around the hotel, all very friendly, most seem to love company of people. They seemed a lot cleaner and well kept than some of the cats we saw in town. We saw no problems, they were very well behaved and loved a little bit of the buffet cuisine.
All in all, we would love to return again to this hotel and can't wait to visit again to make more memories. This was out first 5* hotel experience and there are no regrets at all.
Thankyou Aaron and thankyou to all the staff who worked during our...
