Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 4/5
We passed by Porto Alto while on a run and thought the menu looked interesting . I mean , a âlocalâ restaurant in Cyprus that doesnât serve Calamari? That takes courage, and lots of confidence.
Clearly it was absolutely well founded. Everything we ordered was fantastic - hummus with cured fish, grilled sea bream and grilled pulpo. I had read some reviews and came across one from an Italian who said the grilled pulpo was as good as those he had in Italy. I was convinced , both before and after.
Food heaven.
Naturally we made a second visit. They remembered us and we were given excellent service as usual. This time we had mussels a la ooh la la. In cream sauce with garlic and pepper corns , that wasnât too overwhelming. Aubergine was good and well balanced. And the grilled shrimp were very well marinated.
Overall , the taste is very sophisticated , not just drenched in olive oil / salt.
Service is superb. All the waiters are extremely friendly, polite and switched on. They are like ants scurrying in and out of the kitchen, and whether on their way in or out, they are always looking at tables to see if there is something they can bring back in, or someone they can attend to.
I cannot speak for the meat dishes as I am a seafood lover but for those who love their meats, I saw some pretty fierce-looking meat dishes coming out.
The mains are quite large so for couples I suggest sharing two starters and one main. Unless you have a large appetite.
A rather long post but this restaurant definitely deserves it. They clearly put thought, care and love into the food preparation, presentation and delivery . If you are ever in Cyprus, please stop by here. Actually, maybe not - I wish it will stay a hidden gem so that I will always be able to find a table when Iâm there !
*Only downside is that the music could not really match up to the food, but it was a...
Read moreAt PORTO ANTICO RESTAURANT, my dining experience was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance enveloped me in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that was both elegant and effortlessly charming. The service staff, with their meticulous attention to detail and genuine care, made me feel valued and well-attended. Each interaction was a testament to their professionalism and passion for hospitality.
The culinary journey began with an appetizer of garlic bread that set the stage for the evening. It was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and flavored to perfectionâa delightful start that hinted at the quality to follow. The main course, Moroccan chickpeas, was a masterpiece of flavors and textures. The dish was beautifully presented, and each bite was a revelation of how traditional ingredients could be transformed into a contemporary culinary delight.
What sets PORTO ANTICO RESTAURANT apart is not just the high-quality cuisine but also the beautiful balance between elegance and ease. The price performance ratio is exceptional, offering great value without compromising on quality or experience. Moreover, the personal touch of the chef visiting the table to inquire about our experience underscored the restaurant's commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
In summary, PORTO ANTICO RESTAURANT is a gem that combines all aspects of a perfect dining experience: impeccable service, exquisite cuisine, inviting ambiance, and superb value.    Read moreBest meal we've had during our stay. Everything, from starters to dessert was quality and delicious. Staff were excellent too. A real treat and will definitely return.
Edited 15/10/25 Returned 12 months later. Have to say didn't enjoy as much as last year. It is expensive but we usually have it as a treat but the place felt like a conveyer belt of customers. Noisy with a background thud of, I guess, music. Food was okay and plentiful but the rolls for starters were very salty and strange powdery texture, hot water shot out of it so can only guess they were originally frozen and halloumi tasteless. For Mains the mash was just warm. Also noticed other tables being offered bread but none for us. what let out visit down was surly male waiters. From taking our order to the end when we asked for a Cyprus coffee where we felt told off like naughty children, the waiter saying "we don't call it Cyprus coffee" such an attitude and couldn't even raise a smile. A female waitress brought the coffee and said 'Cyprus coffee'. It sounds petty but his attitude stank. The female waitresses were mostly more pleasant. I appreciate the restaurant is very busy but treat your customers better. Also smoking is allowed at the table, as non smokers it is off putting with some guests smoking one cig after another....
