Hotel Esplanade Spa & Golf Resort — Hotel in Cheb District

This place is AMAZING! My photos aren't the greatest because I use a different camera for photos so my apologies; my photos do not do this beautiful place justice!

First the price point is perfect for a family of 3 including a dog!

My room was a double twin bedroom but actually had a total of three twin beds located on the third floor! Big room with ample space! It was clean and had a welcoming feeling! It had the cutest balcony with a table and two chairs for that morning coffee and to see the beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The bathroom had a toilet, stand up shower, a jacuzzi (separate from shower), double sinks, blow dryer, tons of towels- big bathroom! The room had a safe to store valuables, a tv with tons of channels but very few english. There is room service until late I would order at 11 pm no issues. My dog is potty trained no accidents but the maid was so nice she said if there were any accidents that she will clean it (but there were none). I thought that was sweet of her she was honestly the friendliest maid ever! Maids only came in if there was no sign on door so if you prefer not to be bothered make sure you put your privacy sign on the door! The room key also also used for lights! There is no electricity unless you enter your room key into the slot near the door inside the room! A neat way to be green! The restraunt is amazing! The food is exquisite! Definitely a 5 star chef! There is a spa services but not open on the weekend! Keep that in mind if you want spa treatments go during the week not weekends otherwise you have to get spa treatments from locals. But the resort has lots of spa treatments all come with a cost! You have to pay for the services but well worth it in my opinion. There is a pool no hot tub but the pool is so nice and free to use. They also have tennis! It was so nice this place is located in quiet place and it's a perfect family getaway! Definitely coming back. The staff is super friendly the welcoming drinks were nice they treated my dog like family they treated us like family, thank you!

Place itself is beautiful with a rich history located near a historical town with easy walking access. The slopes are across the street (walking distance) but also offer other activities as well.

Cons: Breakfast for this range (5*) hotel is unacceptable: very poor. Cook is making omlet, but when you want to order fresh one - she refuses to do and shows a stand where previous omlets (obviously cold) are waiting. Croissant is just not a croissant, but bread in shape of it. Fruits and vegetables are sliced 🙄 no refreshments if the food finished and tea is just terrible…

Hotel staff is also NOT nice. We arrived at 14, check in is at 15. We politely asked if maybbe our room is ready. Man at the reception just said “no. Check in at 15”. No smiling, no polite phrases, nothing. We asked can we visit the toilet then while waiting. When we come back, he rushed for us and said that room is actually ready ( he didn’t even know our name, how he could check?). Then still without smile he started to check us in, advised that things in mini bar are extra. When we check out the same guy still no smile asked as did we have smth from mini bar. And you know the funniest part? Mini bar in room was locked with key. And there is no...

Sadly, I would not recommend staying here again. The hotel has an old world charm, but the cost does not at all justify the experience.

CONS Despite paying 200 eur per night, only the pool is included in the cost. This means that you must pay the sauna separately, which you must reserve privately by the hour, and the rate is 35 eur per hour. Lastly, the sauna facilities close very early (6pm). While breakfast is nice, again, for the price, the lack of variety and options is not justified. Air conditioning in the room DOES NOT WORK - not with the built in AC, or with the detached unit which is not properly installed and blows hot air into the room. We were lucky and had cool nights, however.
