U Papoušků — Hotel in okres Jindřichův Hradec

First of all I have to say that I didn´t sleep in this pension, so I would like to review the restaurant only.||We went there for a lunch with my friends and our kids during summer holiday.||The restaurant was almost full, so we were sent to sit on the terrace. Then we were told that if we want to choose something from the daily menu, we have to go back inside and check the menu on a blackboard located inside.||The service was very unfriendly. We had to wait long in order to be served. The waiter came to ask for drinks but as my kids weren´t able to answer quickly his question he just left without saying a word. I was quite surprised. Then he came again and asked for meals (skipping the drinks this time). My nephew asked for a meal and asked to receive it without mushrooms. The waiter was just very unpleasant and answered that it is not possible to remove the mushrooms and he decided by himself to order him another meal, because it was similar. Without asking us. Then we had to wait long time for our meals as the waiter was first serving the people who came after us. At the end I asked for 50cl of Kofola (drink) and I got less than 50cl (this is considered as cheating on the customers).||In overal, I was very dissatisfied. Horrible service, average food. I´ll never return to...

U Papousku is an ok choice in JH. The main assets are the clean rooms with renovated flashy bathrooms, a friendly owner who prepares excellent scrambled eggs in the morning and a very affordable price. It is 5 minutes walk from the centre of JH but due to the small size of the town it can be considered somehow "far out" if compared to most of the establishments available. The sleeping quality in the rooms is a bit low due to uncomfortable beds and noise coming from the restaurant and the frankly annoying fridge in the room. Restaurant is much smaller than it has been some time ago, but still the same style and food ... unfortunatelly same food for years... with no progress, change ...||||Food quality is moderate or OK ... not bad but nothing really special ... this is maybe caused by very wide menu ... I gues would be better to shrink it to 1/4 and focus on real quality ...
