I was actually pretty excited for this stay and not even one full day into it and I'm over it. There is exactly ZERO air flow in the rooms so it is stifling in there. We have the windows open but the window shade on one is broken so it won't roll back up and it's going to be super bright in there very early tomorrow (can already tell). There is a girl in my room vaping even though there is a no smoking sign posted (and I'm not comfortable saying something to the desk because I don't want to be that person and I don't trust people to not retaliate in some way). The sliding door in the shower stalls has a 3/4 inch gap - it doesn't slide all the way shut so if someone were to walk by, they can see in. The towels they provide are hand towel size - I'm not sure if you have to ask and/or pay for something more but it's confusing as to why they would give you just that and there's no other information about it. Also, there's not really any privacy like you would get with a curtain at other hostels (which to be fair, you can see this on their pictures) - it's like a mesh screen between the beds upstairs and you can see each other. Not looking forward to vaping girl up there later tonight....
The staff was super friendly and the location is great (as are the outdoor spaces with the cafe and bakery) but I'm not sure I'm even going to spend my second night here, like I'm already looking for an alternative place to stay because the heat and lack of airflow actually makes it challenging to breath normal in there. I would rather sleep on one of the little couches in the hallway since at least it's a tiny bit...
Read moreA modern, shabby chic accommodation. The room I stayed in was quiet, just right for a night's sleep. Check-in can be done online beforehand, but the automated email you receive is all in Czech and you have to use a translator.
When I arrived, I was told that all the beds but one were occupied in my room, but it looked like two out of six beds simply hadn't been serviced - I only had 3 x roommates on the day I stayed. It would have been nicer if I was able to sleep in one corner by the door, which was vacant but not yet ready for a new guest.
The card key is needed to turn/keep the lights on. This system helps the hostel save electricity, but is not for the guests' sake. Because, when you're leaving the room and your card key is in use for the lights, obviously you have to take the card with you so one of the remaining guests in the room has to get up and insert theirs.
The establishment is missing two hostel basics: communal kitchen (or I just wasn't told there is one?), fridges easily accessible for guests. It didn't appear that there was a facility to make hot drinks, really basic in cheapest hostels I've stayed before.
Although the decoration is stylish and the concept is great, the business could consider the utility aspects as above if they are interested in improving...
Read moreFor me this place definetly has potential but due to some strange planning (or Czech logic ?) and managing, I have a mix feeling about it. First about the stairs, there is no lift and there is no realtively easy acess to the hostel, so people who has a huge luggage should avoid carrying it up the stairs. I just wonder why they don’t have 1 small single room, usually this kind of place offer at least one small single room, so I ended up sleeping in a dormitory room (which I usaully don’t) which is okay but not very comfortable. The design(only one socket near the bed), the bed is very stiff, big room with limited equipments, very weird, if there is more space why not install a toilet room IN the room? Also the heater is not very strong, so I don’t sleep deeply. Internet problem. The Internet in room 2. is barely usable, very slow. I wished to use my laptop on my warm bed but instead ending up in the corridor. All in all I would rate this just slightly above average. The overall cost and performance is not so high, it has a chill vibe, also very good personnel, beautiful surrondings, but I would barely consider to...
