We have planned this holiday for our family of 4 for around 6 months and have initially booked the room in the Hotel Adam in Spindleruv Mlyn, but after reading the reviews mentioning the rude service we have decided to cancel it and find the hotel with more friendly enviroment.||||Hotel Domovina appeared to have much better reviews even though it was more expensive and didn't have as many facilities / services as the previous one.||||We arrived to the hotel around 9pm on the 2nd of January, but even though it was past the dinner time, the lady in the reception (Olaz) has arranged for us to have something to eat, which was great as we were really hungry.||||Over the next few days things were pretty ok, but we've noticed that the owner (who was in the hotel most of the time wondering around the restaurant and reception) looked rather very unhappy with grumpy face - never answered to a 'good morning' (perhaps that's how people there are). The only people who actually smiled there was Olaz and two ladies working there - the only ones that made us feel welcome.||||Our room was warm and beds were fairly comfortable.||||One day we've decided to use the jacuzzi, which looked nice on the pictures, but what we soon realised was that it was the outdoor (under the roof) with the water temperature set to about 27 degrees C. We were literally in -4 degrees with snow right at the front of the jacuzzi - could only spend about 2 min and had to leave as it was unbearable.||||We did have a kettle with glasses and mugs in the room, but we've noticed that when we've made the coffee, the housekeeping lady never washed the mugs - so we had to do it ourselves using just water in the bathroom sink. ||||I've sent a request to the owner via booking.com (they have the option called 'send a request to the hotel') - as I couldn't find him anywhere that day - whether he could ask the lady to wash the cups as we didn't have any washing up liquid. The following day morning, when we were getting ready for the slope he approached us saying that I should ask him directly and that they don't offer this sort of service and if we don't like it - we can go and find some other, bigger hotel in town.||||Both - my wife and I - we were shocked with this response - we have never been treated this way in any hotel in any country, and we do travel quite a lot.||||We were planning to rate this hotel between at 4 stars, but with the arrogant and rude owner like this I can hardly give it a 1 star.||||If you're like us - like the friendly and welcoming atmosphere - I recommend you look elsewhere as Hotel Domovina appears to be for all those unhappy, long faced people with the owner who has no respect for his guests...
Read moreI booked a 1 night stay at Hotel Domovina, Spindleruv Mlyn, CZ (from 25th to 26th of January). I received a confirmation e-mail from hotels.com stating that reservation had been confirmed and there was no need to call the hotel or bother in any way. ||But, I decided to call the hotel Domovina, they told me that I do not have any reservation there booked! I called hotels.com call-center and after 20min chat I was told that I have the room reserved there and that hotel owner, someone named Chris, would take care of me and my friends (booking was for 3 people). I asked if it was really so and agent told me that I should not worry at all, he even gave me phone number of hotel owner, someone named Chris.||Ok, upon arrival to Spindleruv Mlyn, 21.30, I was told by hotel staff that there was no room reserved for me and I should go away and try my luck with finding a room elsewhere. Number of that "hotel owner Chris" was not answering, that person was just terminating calls. It was late in the evening and it was -17 degrees C outside. Last bus to Prague left already and all what we could do was to either freeze to death or go home by taxi. I called hotels.com call center again, agent said she would contact the hotel, I was kept on hold for 30min, then another agent talked to me and also said he would contact the hotel - 5 more minutes on hold. Finally agent said he failed to contact the hotel and that I need to go and look for staff of the hotel again and try to solve the problem - what a hypocrisy!! it's been already more than 1 hour we had to spend in the street at -17 C. ||We had only 1 option left - to pay 500 Euros for taxi ride back home. Weekend was ruined also.||In short - never book this hotel.||I had encountered overbooking situations before, but in all previous cases overbooked hotel was providing full assistance and was able to provide alternative accommodation at another hotel.||With Hotel Domovina this will not work - you'll have to sleep in the street or take an expensive...
Read moreThe hotel seems to be bad organized and managed... I was expecting a service which is common for all hotels in ski resorts, but I was wrong.||There are just many small weird things about this place... ||- no proper ski room (they say they just opened?), you can dry your shoes in the basement||- jaccuzi is located outsite, which is is completely normal, but before entering you need to take off this very heave cover, which can be quite a struggle while you are freezing.||- the staff is very weird... many times there was no one in the reception, so it feels like absolutely everyone can enter and do whatever they want. Some of staff members and not friendly at all and some are over-friendly :)||- They are very stubborn to sell you ski rental service of the one and only company.||- Extremely poor choice for dinner - they don't have any other food than offered in menu on that day, which is: ONE soup and ONE salad (always the same) OR another second dish. The don't serve deserts and second dish is extremely simple and not tasty neither well served... The portions are small so there is no way you will be full after whole day skiing. Also, you cannot pay by card in the restaurant or add it to your room bill.||||As for advantages, room was very comfortable though, so if you don't mind the rest of the details it's a decent place... and skibus is just next...
