We are familiar with The Pub chain of restaurants, mainly from Prague. The biggest attraction in these restaurants is the ability to pour your own pint of beer at your table. Unfortunately, our visit to this location did not go so well.
WARNING! This restaurant does not have its self-pouring beer stands running during the summertime.
We were staying in Spinderluv Mlyn for a week and wanted to stop here one day, mainly so we could relax and pour our own beer. When we arrived the place was empty and we were told we could sit where we wanted. When we sat down at a self pouring beer table, my wife ordered beer and the waiter said "ok". Just before leaving the table she asked him “we can pour our beer right?” and then he told us that they don't run them in summertime. We were disappointed but since this restaurant is located uphill from the city center with no parking nearby, and our elderly parents made the walk up, we decided to stay.
We ordered our food and it was good. We had no issues with its quality. As for the personnel, not very friendly or attentive. The bathrooms were filthy and smelled badly. In the end when it came time to pay the waitress appeared to not be happy with our tip. It has become a bad habit for restaurants in the Czech Republic to "suggest" tips based on percentages which are normally not customary. Even 10% for such moderately priced locations is too much, unless the personnel and place went above and beyond, which they did not even reach here. Frankly, they are lucky that they even got a tip.
My suggestion to this restaurant is to put up on your website, Facebook page, and Google Maps ad the dates when you don't run your self-serve taps. The way it is now is very deceptive.
We have been coming to Spinderluv Mlyn yearly now for the last four years, and this was our first time here. Unfortunately, it will be our last. This particular location doesn't meet the standards of other The Pub locations and to pay good money for that...
Read morewe paid with a visa card, but we got scammed. they don't let you see what the type in the visa card reader. very uncomman. they also select the currency for you, which is illegal. they must offer you a choice of currencies. it is also written on the receipt they printed out for you. we try to clarify this directly with the cashier. two times, we asked. we waited 10 minutes on our table and asked for compensation. there was no will to sort it out. they told us they dont know about this currency exchange even if we explained to them that they selected it wrong by intention. they told us they dont know and left our tabel without solution for us. i found out that restaurants get extra payments from "Global Payments Europa" if they use DCC more often.
Update: as soon as i get my fees back i will overthink my...
Read moreJudging by the name and the photos on Google, I expected this restaurant to look like a quite ordinary pub and serve usual pub food. I was wrong: it’s interestingly hidden inside a slope, with only the terrace visible from outside, it has beautiful Scandinavian style wooden interior decoration and beautiful views from the terrace, and the food is really not just pub food but much better. I chose an interesting take on fried cheese, excellent and a big serving. Friendly staff, menus in English. Definitely...
