Hotel Popelka — Hotel in Prague

Good hotel with a decent breakfast buffet. Has rooms for one person. The curtains could have been a bit darker and thicker to keep the light out a bit more but it wasn't that bad. There is a problem with the showers. Or the shower is to hot or when you finally get colder watter (you have to turn the temperature switch almost fully to the right) the power of the water drops. This is not problematic but it takes away some of the satisfaction you get from a decent shower in the morning. Peacefull environment a bit away from the old city centre. A 5 minute walk away from a tram station and 2 kilometers away from a metro station. Public transport is very good in prague. You can buy a card for 30 minutes, 90 minutes, 1 day, 3 days,...There is parking space at the hotel but i advice you to come early because the parking space is limited. The parking space is protected. The gate to the parking place closes during the night. You can still enter by pressing the buzzer at the gate. There is a 24/7 reception in the hotel, the receptionist will ask for your name and roomnumber and then let you in. The hotel also has a terass for which you can ask the key at the reception (terass can only be reached from the parking area). There is also a bar in the hotel and a minibar in every room. First, let me just say that we were in a room with a balcony, so our experience may be different than others. We stayed as a coupled and it was serene. The hotel itself is located right next to a large forest/park and stepping outside onto the balcony is very very beautiful, with the cold air and nice smells. The bathroom featured a nice skylight. Breakfast was simple and tasty, with bread, cheese, ham, eggs, juice and different cereals. The cleaning and breakfast staff were very pleasant, and so were the reception workers, any thing we needed they were very eager to help. The hotel itself is pretty far from the old city center, so if bars and parties is your thing, I suggest maybe going to a closer hotel. The surrounding area was very quiet and green, with direct access to the park and the adjacent quiet neighborhood. A quick tram ride is all you need to get to the city center which arrives every 5 minutes, from a tram stop that is about 10 minute walk away. Bus 191 gets you to the hotel from the airport. |The only con we can think of is the water in the shower - The water would freeze you and scold you. The only time we could shower was either early in the morning(6am-ish) or late at night (1am-ish). Although a serious problem, it dwarfs in comparison too are wonderful experience in this...

Nice, big and clean room with mini-bar. For those people who complain about poor TV - you're on holiday! You don't need to watch British/American channels! The Wi-Fi in the room was excellent. Lovely breakfast, with a lot of choice and lots of it. Again, to all those moaners - experience what Czech people eat rather than wish you could have had what you eat at home. Staff friendly and efficient - they help you get the right tram etc. (Tram no. 9 is the best one to use, and get a pre-paid ticket to use on that and the metro and busses from local shops/newsagents). If you want night life, this isn't the hotel for you, but we loved the peace .... very relaxing after a busy day's sightseeing.
