Came here for 7 nights as I had a conference at the UN City building across the water (only a 15 min walk from the hotel).
Positives: -it’s very quiet. Solid walls and doors; couldn’t hear the cleaning ladies outside my door, nor anything outside the window -warm. It’s December so much appreciated -short walk to Nordhavn Metro and S Tog. The M4 line connects easily to the M2 to/from the airport -Tons of amenities around here: a cinema, at least 8 restaurants of different cuisines and price points (I’ve tried 3 and all were excellent), 2 grocery stores, a barber, pharmacy, plastic surgery center, sauna, coffee shop, realtor, bike shop and plant nursery -great views depending on the room. Walking around outside is lovely though -the hotel breakfast is very adequate if not fancy -tea/coffee set in my room -actual glass glasses in the bathroom -need a key to get upstairs -very good water pressure and instant hot water -bed and pillows are comfy -the hotel has umbrellas available at the front desk -helpful blackout curtains
The negatives: -The room is a decent size (queen bed + a chair and bench for luggage) but no drawers, closet, fridge or safe. 4 hangers on 3 pegs to hang clothes so I’m living out of my suitcase -my shower smelled like sewage for the first 3 days before they came and fixed it after two complaints -only English Channel is BBC news -no desk, just a mini tv tray so not work conducive -if you leave your DND tag on beyond 10am your room won’t get cleaned. Not a fluke; my dad had the same issue for his room. This seemed strange since checkout is at 11 and when we arrived our rooms weren’t ready until 3pm so the cleaning staff are obviously here -each elevator (3) has its own button. This is a problem when everybody hits all 3 to go down and so if you’re on the 4th floor, you’re stopping at every floor but no one’s there -no phone in the room so you gave to shlep to the lobby if you need something -my ‘sea view room’ was a sliver of sea and mostly the apartment building across the way. Needless we all had our curtains pulled 90% of the time
The Marriott website had options for rooms without breakfast and rooms with breakfast. Breakfast comes with every room so don’t pay for the extra bit.
I knew I wasn’t getting a fancy place here; I’d just have appreciated some drawers, closet and a safe. The rest I can live without. I’ll be coming to Copenhagen at least yearly going forward. I think I’ll hit the great restaurants nearby again but will look for a hotel with a few more amenities. There are nicer places for $240+/night. Giving 4 stars mostly for the...
Read moreA colleague and I booked this hotel as it was not that far away from a location we've had to have visit the coming day. The price for the room for a night was REALLY high at about EUR 250,-. This was during a regular weekday.
Now, why only 1 single star?
At first, you will get a super-small room. The room is so tiny and small that it doesn't even fit a working desk. I haven't had this for a long time. And given the fact that the hotel is relatively new, I was very surprised, especially since this is certainly not in a tourist spot but mainly will serve business travel. The room does not even have a kettle to boil water, no water bottles at all in your room (at least, the Copenhagen tab water is drinkable but... hey,. not even a glass or cup in the room). There is a TV with some Scandinavian programs, some German ones (ARD, ZDF, NDR and RTL). Not that I want to spend my time watching TV. But there is mostly nothing in the surrounding. We went for a glass of wine to a bar/store called CENTRAL nearby which closes at 21:30h. And there is a Netto and a LIDL supermarket nearby.
Speaking of the room features, it has the softest bed I have ever slept in. So, if you like super-soft beds, all good for you. But for the average 80kg male traveler, these beds will kill your back and spine potentially.
Positive points: My room was very clean, and the window can be opened at least partially to let fresh air in. Which was important since my AC rattled and gave high-frequency noises which were really disturbing and nerve-wrecking.
Given the price tag, a room should cost max of EUR 100,- Since it is 2.5x as expensive, since it has not even a desk to work at, no bar, and not even a kettle and tea bags in the room, I consider this as a "never again" experience.
Side comment: Since Fairfield seems to be very low in the Marriott hierarchy, you get just a bit more than 1000 points for your highly expensive stay. If I would need to stay for a full week, I would suffer serious depression I'd guess.
Staff at the reception was friendly, no doubt. But funny to me was the excuse that there is no kettle in the room because of the room's size.
No offense here, but the average expensive hotel in NYC gives more value for...
Read moreFantastic Hotel. I wanted a hotel that was modern, simple (nothing frilly, no throws and random cushions), very clean, in a quiet area, with a decent breakfast and good travel connections to the centre of Copenhagen. This hotel delivered on all of those things. It was the perfect no frills hotel for me and my family. We loved the area, it was peaceful at night, had great views around the harbour and the harbour baths and it was lovely to walk around. There was a brilliant bakery 2 minutes walk away along with other restaurant and bars (we enjoyed the views from Silo rooftop). It was only an 8 min walk to the metro which was another 8 minutes to central Copenhagen which for us was ideal. On researching, other hotels of a similar pice in the centre looked run down and poor value. We mostly value cleanliness and this hotel was certainly clean. The rooms were spotless and minimalist. Yes there is no wardrobe but for a long weekend I would rather not have one. There was ample space for two suitcases on the specified bench space. The toiletries were fantastic (separate shampoo, conditioner and body wash in large refill bottles), as was the hairdryer (a regular dryer that you could plug in at the wall rather than have to use in the bathroom). Would 100% stay here again if I return to Copenhagen. Fantastic place! ||The only things we think could improve it would be:|- option to take fresh milk from downstairs to the bedroom to make english breakfast tea in the bedroom on an evening. There was powdered milk in the room, but this isn’t the same. We could have bought some from the supermarket but there was no fridge in the room so most of it would have been wasted. One staff member did allow us to take some milk out of the coffee machine but another didn’t.|-breakfast on Monday wasn’t as good as at the weekend. The boiled eggs were cold on Monday. The staff were different so maybe just better consistency/training is needed.|-aircon - my family all got hot in the night. Thankfully we could open the window but for some reason the aircon doesn’t seem to work as far as we could tell. This may be an...
