Tronco Inc — Hotel in La Hispaniola

First I have to stay that I enjoyed my stay at the Tronco Hotel. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The beach restaurant food was great ! Friendly service.||This was a working vacation for me so I needed at least 4hours of internet service daily.||It pretty much worked out. There were blackouts and it took time for the power to come back. If I was a casual traveler and needed only few minutes out of the day for internet service then I would say internet service was great. Internet is not strong in the hotel rooms so I had to do most of my work outside the room which was a mild inconvenience.||||AC works great, which was very much needed. The hotel was always clean.||||The only thing I was not happy about was the hotel day manager, Evens. I got the impression he went out of his way to make me uncomfortable. I had to constantly ask for extra things in the room, such as a towel. I asked for breakfast, he subtly made sure I didn't receive it on time. His tone with me, at times, suggested he needs more customer service training.||||The night manager gave me more customer satisfaction than Evens. If it was not for Evens, the day manager, I would give the hotel a 5star.||||Other than, I highly recommend this hotel. ||||When I return I would book this...

This a place that I would never recommend, not even to my worst enemy. This used to be a decent hotel 4 years ago, but it seems like the main owner has given up on it. Now that place is mainly for junkies, dope heads that stay up all night and make noise, smoke up the place, and since the rooms don't have actual windows and they are just pieces of woods to block part of day light from entering the room, you get to stay up all night with them while you're in the rooms unable to block out the noise and the smell of whatever they are smoking, so don't expect to get any sleep there. Frequent power outages and when that happens, especially at night, you'll be in complete darkness, not even a candle to save your life. The bedsheets, the towels are torn, things that should be thrown away in the garbage are used in all of the rooms. Roof leaks when it rains. The bathroom shower doesn't drain water and creates puddle and causes mosquito invasions. That was the worst hotel experience I've ever had thus far a true nightmare. This is the worst and most unprofessional hotel that I ever booked. Consider yourself warned. I was arriving very late into Santo Domingo and really just needed a place to rest for a few hours before moving on, so I took the risk on this. Bad idea. First off, you can't call anyone at the hotel. No one will answer you. Had a feeling this wasn't going to be good, but was unable to refund it at this point. I tried any way possible and finally appeared to reach someone on an Airbnb account for the property to confirm my booking and late arrival. When I got there around 3am it didn't appear like anyone was expecting me. It was demanded I pay cash now even though I showed him my reservation was already confirmed and paid for. Then I was instructed to go to an atm now or that I give him my passport to hold (who would ever do that?). I obviously refused which eventually led to me being kicked out onto the street and the gate locked behind me. No phone service and no clue where to go. He told me to sleep at the police station.
