Café SBG — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

I seriously had high expectations for this place, being that it was located in a high end mall and it was literally right across from Louis Vuitton..

It had a charming ambiance, but unfortunately, it did not meet our hopes.

We waited 30minutes to be seated, when we finally got seated it took another 30 minutes to try annd place our orders…which never happened, which lead us to leave.

The waiter seemed unaware of the long wait, and as we were leaving to settle our bill, the manager inquired why. I explained in Spanish about the poor service, and although the manager invited us to stay, we declined due to the extended wait and our significant disappointment. Even with our drinks..

The drinks we received at the entrance bar were not what we ordered; we asked for frozen strawberry margaritas and received passion fruit margaritas that tasted overly salty & was watery…. We legit gave up and knew they weren’t going to be able to deliver atleast decent service.

TBH the menu didn’t even sound tasty a lot of random seafood dishes that didn’t even sound good although some other peoples food...

I am writing this review in English for travelers who come here to this mall and want to eat Cafe SBG. The place is terrible, it's all for show ,pretentious people sitting eating in a mall as people shop you know the food will be garbage. Having no other options I came here and it was a disaster. First thing on the menu I picked was baked ravioli they came to me and said they didn't have it, then I order a cheeseburger which was terrible, it looked good but absolutely terrible. Remember it's all for show no execution, no real passion behind this place. This place is a tourist trap so do not eat here THIS IS FOR those foreigners who think it's cool to have a white table cloth table as they eat so everyone can see they "have money" the staff was nice I'm not including them in this bad review. I don't even like writing reviews. Skip this place find a real restaurant like normal people do that don't want to be seen eating bad food with a white table cloth. AGAIN this has nothing to do with the staff i left a 100% tip on top of the cost on the ridiculous...

I dont get how this place gets more than 3 stars.

I think most people come here to be seen and find their rich lover because honestly the food is at a Applebee's level. With JW Marriot prices (staying at the JW great hotel)

Ordered the quesadilla and tacos to start. Check in the quesadillas were bland but did have a lot of chicken.

Tacos were like a fusuon of dominican chimi korean bbq on a tiny tortilla. They weren't good at all.

We ordered the churrasco as well, but it arrived with the appetizers.

Anyway churrasco was cooked well it lacked real flavor the chimichurri helped as it had a good taste. The patatoes were ok at best. Not woth the price tag though. If you want steak go a few blocks away to Turos slightly more expensive but way better.

The atmosphere is ok but it just seemd people come here to be seen. Everyone was trying to draw attention to themselves.

Also the patio is filthy. I wont be coming back I will leave this place for the "bulteros" as the...
