Papacho's Hostel — Hotel in Baños de Agua Santa

This is one of, if not the best hostel I have ever stayed in, and for the price, it is an amazing value!

Located on the edge of Baños, Papacho's hostel is surrounded by panoramic senderos; I highly recommend the sendero Sauces, which can be started by crossing the bridge over the river just a few blocks away. There is a local market that happens 3 times a week so you have access to the freshest, most economical produce around. The hostel is close enough to the city center that all of the tourist attractions, restaurants, and parks in Baños are just a short walk away; Baños really is a hidden gem!

Everything in the hostel is modern and well-maintained, and the rooms and beds are really comfortable, the staff work hard to keep the place clean at all times. The common areas are well-equipped for many different activities and there is a lot of space. It is hard to believe how well-equipped the kitchen is! From the terrace of the hostel, you have a wonderful view of the city and the surrounding mountains!

Robert, the owner, is amazing host and is helpful in every way; there are a wide variety of high-adventure activities availableinand around Baños and Robert has personal recommendations for companies and guides to use. Staying at Papacho's has felt like...

I was here in January 2020. It was a good place to stay with comfortable beds with curtains.

Showers are a bit questionable, one of them had some loose wires and would shock you a bit sometimes but that happens with some of those heated showerhead types. Not the first time I've seen that.

Breakfast was decent, had a roof to hang out and dry clothes if necessary.

Staff were friendly and pointed me around town when asked. They had a guy I believe his name was Sebastian who knew about activities and places to rent from. Also owned a burrito shop in town chichi...

Good hostel and an excellent value for the money - $13 for a private room with a shared bath. There's a lounge room, kitchen, eatning area and a rooftop patio. Nothing fancy but a good flat like ambiance to share with other travelers. Kitchen could use some TLC - there are not many cooking implements and the area was a bit under cleaned. Great security, with a locking gate from the road into the place, and locks on the bedroom doors. Good location in town but not at the very center...
