It was a really lovely place to stay.
The staff were friendly, they picked us up from the airport and paid for the taxi fare, that took all the confusion about the best way to get there.
The gave us a choice other which room we could stay in, being honest about their pros and cons - not something you usually get a chance to decide on.
The breakfast in the morning was fantastic, you get freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh coffee, fresh fruit, really soft toasted bread and an egg made how you wanted (which was well prepared and a good sized portion).
The room itself was very large, decent facilities with a good shower and a flat screen TV - we got to catch up on Game of Thrones on one of our nights there.
The location is also great, over the road from the Malecón, which is a shopping area which has received a large amount of funding over the years, it's safe within the area, guarded by security, fences, cameras and lots of lighting - you can use this to walk to other areas such as Las Peñas.
There really wasn't much to like, the room we had was huge, so there was a bit of redundant space.
There are a lot of stairs as you come on as well, 3 flights, that's probably the most annoying thing - but it...

Email to confirm address before you arrive. ||This hotel is in the beautiful neighborhood of Las Peñas. It’s an easy walk to the boardwalk, Malecón 2000, and even closer to the best part of Guayaquil, Cerro Santa Ana.||The hotel itself is well appointed, comfortable, and clean. It’s modern and classy. The rooms are a good size and there’s a pool and sauna on the rooftop.||The hotel is in a popular area so it can be loud at night. We stayed on a Saturday so I’m sure it was louder than usual. The hotel does provide earplugs if needed. They even offered to switch our room if it was too noisy.||The breakfast in the morning was good and filling, particularly the omelette. Don’t order the pancake unless you like really sweet food.||The best part of our stay was the hospitality- especially Isra. He was one of the nicest and most accommodating people we’ve met on our travels. He is kind, funny, and wants every guest to have a great stay. He really goes...
Read moreThis small hotel is now called Las Penas Siglio XXI Guesthouse. It is located in the Las Penas district, walking distance to Malecon 2000, the boardwalk and many restaurants. It is a bit hard to find on a narrow road but fortunately our taxi driver knew the area well.It seems the whole facility has been recently renovated as everything was modern and clean.||||There are a small number of guest rooms in this multi-story building. Our was a good-sized room with a king bed, bland but clean and comfortable. The common areas include a large lobby, shared kitchen (where breakfast is served), large deck with seating overlooking the river, a lap pool, fitness room and a sauna.||||Service was outstanding. We were greeted warmly by one of the owners who gave us a full tour of the facility and served us a drink and a bowl of fruit. At checkout, we were escorted two blocks to the taxi location.||||Last but not least, the guesthouse was half the price of the larger hotels, an incredible rate. I would love to spend more time here and wish I was not limited...
