Parque Seminario otherwise know and the Iguana Park is a city park with a large statue of Simon Bolivar, a large gazebo, many benches, beautiful trees and landscaping, a fountain with fish and turtles living in, and lots and lots and lots of iguanas. The iguanas have no fear of people as they are protected in the park. Due to lack of fear they come very close to people. There are vendors selling food to feed the iguanas, turtles and pigeons. The day I went the Guayaquil Municipal Guard Band was playing songs while set up in the gazebo. The band played very well and made the experience of seeing the park even better. The iguanas did not seem to care much about the music and continued about their business. In the coy pond/fountain there is an area of rocks which makes a small island in the pond where turtles, iguanas and pigeons all come together and sit on the rocks to sun themselves. We bought iguana food on our way in only to find the iguanas had already eaten their fill and there was uneaten iguana food everywhere. I would suggest not buying the food and just picking up a few uneaten pieces from the grass to try and feed the iguanas with. The only animals that were continuously eating were the pigeons. Definitely worth a visit if you are I'm Guayaquil. This area is patrolled by the police and armed guards and is very safe...
Read moreParque Seminario, also known as Iguana Park, is a small but beautiful green space in the center of Guayaquil. The park is well-kept, with shaded benches, trees, and a calm atmosphere that feels like a peaceful break from the busy city. The highlight is, of course, the iguanas that roam freely. They climb the trees, lounge on the grass, and are surprisingly calm around people, making it easy to take pictures or simply observe them up close.
What makes this park special is the mix of history and charm with the unique experience of sharing the space with dozens of iguanas. Families, tourists, and locals all enjoy it, and the environment feels welcoming. The gardens and walkways are clean and inviting, and the presence of the iguanas gives the park a memorable character that you don’t see anywhere else.
Overall, Parque Seminario is a must-see spot in Guayaquil—not because of its size, but because of its atmosphere and the one-of-a-kind...
Read moreWhen visiting the city of Guayaquil I was amazed by the diversity of tourist sites that this beautiful city offers to its visitors, as well as its gastronomy and culture. In addition, this city enjoys a warm climate, perfect for an excellent summer vacation. These sites have a great history and many of them are cultural heritages. One of its tourist attractions that most caught my attention was the Seminary Park, known as Parque de las Iguanas. As its name says, being in this park you can have contact with iguanas, which, being permanently close to humans, are not aggressive and do not run any risk so you can approach these animals and take a photo or if you prefer you can give them food. It is an incredible experience that is lived in this place, and for those who like nature, this is an option in the middle of a city so it is one hundred percent...
