Great location and that is about it. The rooms are 80's eta and haven't been touched since except poor repairs. The lights in my room were horrible one bulb fluorescent units wired poorly and just resting on the old panels. Pictures show them. They also show the dirt inside of the panels that hasn't been touched in a long time. The bathroom 'fixture' also showed clearly through to the inner ceiling and appeared to contain open asbestos. Ok windows, I had them unlike most of the inner rooms which don't. I think not having them might be better, as they did not seal and street noise was rampant though them even though I was seven stories above the street. If you need a day time rest, good luck. Wifi, yes they have it, but throughput was so poor at points accessing anything was almost impossible. Shower did have hot water but it typically took 3-5 minutes to get there, and the shower head was horrible, not much flow rate
Then there is the customer service. It is passable to a point. However if you are out late anywhere and need to enter the hotel you are at the mercy of the guy at the desk answering the buzzer. 2 nights I was stuck outside on the street buzzing a sleeping guy, phoning both hotel numbers until he finally woke up. Once was 10 minutes, once was 15. In that section of Guayaquil most people say that was extremely dangerous. That might be why the Uber drivers stayed there until I was in.
Also not the hotel has a weird policy. No one is allowed in your room or they charge you extra. A friend visited me for an hour and a half and they dinged me $10. Interesting because the rate for the room is the same for single or double occupancy. The friend did not stay overnight, just in the evening. Ridiculous policy and charge.
So I will say I will never go back at any price. Yes it is cheap, but so are a lot of others. Look in garzotta for the 'white house', basically same price with pool and...
Read moreBooked this hotel as a place to sleep during our stop-over traveling from Quito to Montañita. It had the right price, & the room pictures looks presentable. ||It's a no-frills hotel, & it served the purpose. It's 3.5 miles from the main bus terminal where we arrived & then departed the next morning. The cab ride was $5 which seemed about double what it should be, but...it's $5. The Expedia page mentions a shuttle service to the airport (which is beside the bus terminal), but upon requesting the shuttle the next morning, a private car was called which took us to the bus terminal...for $5. ||As far as the room, it was very basic, but clean. We were ushered into a room on 6th floor with two double beds & a twin bed. Loud air conditioner. No window. It seemed like a basic dorm room which was issued for 2 in our case. To access the room, the elevator only seems to go to the ground floor, 4th & 7th floors, so we went to the 7th, then took stairs down. With suitcases. That said, the attendant on the 7th floor did lift one of the bags for the lady. That's something. ||Actually, everyone from the front desk clerk to the chef who fixed our standard eggs & toast breakfast the next morning ($7 for 2 guests) were enthusiastic, spoke no English, but did plenty of talking & gesticulating. They were happy to answer any questions (dinner recommendation?) & talk about a few other things (I assume) as long as you'd listen, but yeah. No English. ||We didn't stay to tour the town, but the location does seem prime for touring downtown. By the way, what's the Malecon? I assume it's not slang for some famous male convict. Maybe if we knew, we'd also be more enthused...
Read morePros: the hotel is located in the middle of everything. If you want to shop, eat, dine, and close to the south and the north of the city. Malecon is safe.||Cons: Well, maybe the elevator is noisy, but it is not a big deal; since the place is safe. The elevator is only for the guests on the 7th and 6th floor.||Location: Malecon mall is 2 blocks from there; The banking area is 4 blocks down, Parque Seminario is 3 blocks also, Cathedral, and other churches around. Bahia shopping center or Flea Market. ||||I stayed at Malecon Inn for 10 nights, I was very hesitant since I read the reviews and they were not encouraging. However, I had a nice room with 3 beds since I traveled with my family. It has full, air conditioner, and very close to Malecon blvd, restaurants, malls, and shopping centers. The room was and is clean, breakfast included for 10 days. Continental breakfast. Clean towels and sheets everyday. Parking for 1 car and WiFi 24 hours. I did everything I had to do for 10 days. Visited friends and relatives. and most important breakfast included and very economical. and also it has parking, laundry services, WiFi. Included in the price. My family and I were very happy. For the price you pay, to be in the main city in the main port of Guayaquil, it is worthy the hotel, it is safe, no robbery. Obviously you have to use your common sense when walking in the city with your cellulars.|| I don't quite understand why people complaint so much, if they want something better go to Oro Verde or continental 5 blocks away. THis is my truth experience I stayed 10 days 9 nights and I bought the Package thru...
