La Pata Gorda Centro — Restaurant in Guayaquil

Nice location near the iguana park. We had a table near the window and could look out at the park.

We ordered drinks. They were pretty and tasted good but they were not strong at all. The plantain chips were crispy and tasty with the dip that came with them.

We ordered the sampler platter, a crab salad and and crab dish (chow mein?) The sampler platter was fried calamari, fried minced fish, plus grilled shrimp and calamari and a few crab claws (shelled) with a few French fries. The octopus was delicious; tender and not overcooked. The other foods were good but the crab claws were neither hot nor cold and tasted watery and soggy. They were served in water and not in butter which didn’t help their taste.

My husband did not enjoy his entree at all. The rice was so hard it hurt his teeth to try to eat it. The cheese sauce was overpowering and the crab (what little there was) didn’t have any flavor. He was disappointed.

The crab salad was also disappointing. It was served after the sampler platter though we gad expected it before that and certainly before the main dish. The crab was so finely shredded that there was no taste left nor texture. It was neither hot nor cold. The lukewarm temperature was not appetizing. The salad had potatoes, red onions and lime juice — reminiscent of ceviche but it was not successful because of the odd texture and the temperature of the dish.

It was an expensive meal and about 75% of it was not good.

We ate fairly early in the evening. It wasn’t busy at the time. Only 2 other customers were in the dining area upstairs where we were. Service was fine but I think our waiter knew we weren’t happy but did nothing to try to solve any...

La Pata Gorda is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves great food and drink. I recently had the pleasure of dining there and was blown away by the experience.

Local del centro , zona céntrica muy bien localizado frente al parque de las iguanas o parque seminario, párate alta del local agradable ,buen ambiente decoración interesante, ideal para algún evento familiar,reunión ejecutiva con almuerzo. Me pareció muy bonito está área, pero para acceder al sitio solo por escaleras y personas de tercera edad o minusválidos difícil subir, cuando llegamos me vieron a mi y no se percataron de las dos personas mayores y nos ofrecieron parte alta,para ellas difícil subir. El área de abajo la entrada algo angosta y por el bar ,cocina y mesas para clientes queda reducido el espacio, no se siente tan cómodo para mi gusto, en cuanto a la atención si muy amables pero demoran en servir y otro siglo la cuenta . En horarios de almuerzo donde el movimiento es más rápido por retorno a los trabajos y otras labores muy demorado la atención y la cuenta a pagar, baños limpios pero el decorado no me gustó, entiendo la idea de la decoración pero no fue de mi agrado . por el sabor ,pero pedimos ensalada de cangrejo, he comido mejores ensaladas ,se sintió sencillo en su sabor ,nada extraordinario. chopsuey encocado de cangrejo se perdió el sabor de los ingredientes principales que era el coco y el cangrejo para mí fue un cocolon con achiote, pensé encontrar un sabor expectacular,por sus ingredientes principales,pero me lleve una gran decepción y chopsuey criollo este plato era arroz blanco y tenía picante y le dió un buen sabor .este me agradó un poco en su mezcla . Precios razonables por los ingresantes mariscos y el tipo de local bien decorado, pero si cobran por el servicio a parte del iva. Okay no hay problema ,pero cuando uno sale sin sentir que comió algo super delicioso el precio se vuelve oneroso, si me hubiera gustado sería el precio excelente. Al final un ligero cóctel de menta que refresco el paladar. Me pareció un buen detalle. Lo malo alguien de la mesa se retiró a buscar el auto y demoraron en dar el cóctel y no lo degustó. La atención es muy lenta y otra cosa los meseros para la parte alta deben subir y bajar los platos y deberían tener un pequeño elevador para subir los platos y arriba los meseros que puedan servir más eficientemente.ver pasa a cada rato un mesero cerca de nuestra mesa fue incómodo y eso le quita lo agradable al local parte baja ya el pasillo es angosto a la entrada. Aún así le daré otra oportunidad al restaurante en algún momento intentaré probar otro plato quizás escogí mal, no es el fuerte de este restaurante quizás es otros platos le vaya mejor....el menú es variado ...
