Staff 5/5 Food 3/5 Rooms 2/5 Location 3/5 (depending on what you want)
Staff is very friendly, front desk is English speaking. The buffet breakfast options are very limited. The food menu has a lot of options though. The pumpkin soup was amazing, some of the local dishes were ok, but you want to stay away from beef all together.
I was in the last room at the end of the hallway, right across from the emergency exit door, which is also the same door the staff uses most of the time, and you hear it every single time it opens and closes. Since the hotel is in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown, don’t expect relaxed touristic neighborhood, but then everything is a 5-min walk. You hear the streets and other guests as they wake up to take care of their business including the pipes.
I stayed there for 2 weeks out of necessity. The room is small, the bathroom even smaller so much so one can’t move around comfortably. The overall mood of the rooms are old and depressing.
I booked for one person, and that made them remove the second set of towels.
Walking distance to Malacon, banks, city hall, other offices. Expect to see ppl lodge on the sidewalk for a night’s sleep when it gets dark. Elevator is key activated.
What’s missing: Bathroom fan Safe box Iron and table
I wouldn’t recommend the...
Read moreMe and my family stayed in Hotel Palace Guayaquil for two nights in the last days of our month long trip to Ecuador. We chose this place because of its central location and of course also based on good reviews in Tripadvisor. And we were not disappointed. Although the hotel is a bit worn-looking, everything was actually clean and tidy and the service level absolutely impeccable. The receptionists, porters, restaurant personnel - all were very friendly and helpful and made our final days in Ecuador absolutely enjoyable. Thank you!|The room was big enough, clean and had a business hotel vibe. Although located in the heart of the central city, it was surprisingly quiet even during the rush hour. The breakfast was good and plenty. What we liked the most was the location - a very short walk away from the Malecon boardwalk, park of the iguanas (a must visit!) and many cafes and restaurants. In 20 minutes you can be on the steps of Las Penas on the northern end of Malecon (getting up to the top is another story :)) so most of the sights in central Guayaquil are really close by. So if you want to enjoy the vibrant city then look no further, Hotel Palace Guayaquil is a great choice. We would definitely...
Read moreFront desk staff was very polite and spoke fluent Spanish and English. Rooms and hotel itself were as pictured. Breakfast was an excellent, all-you can eat buffet with free made-to-order add-ons, amazing hot chocolate, and bitter coffee that I only drank because it was free. Room prices reasonable for what you got. TV was small but had an excellent channel lineup/guide. The area is very busy and walking distance to endless restaurants, shops, markets, street vendors, the Malecon 2000, and much more.
I had three issues: 1) The workout center had only 3 machines, 2 of which were broken. 2) Their provided taxi charged more than the usual rate and delivered me to a location 3 blocks off. I suggest Cabify or another rideshare app when possible. 3) The offer a "free cocktail" at the restaurant, but when you try to redeem the coupon they say that alcoholic drinks don't count. The drinks (and food) were astronomically expensive by Ecuador's standards, even expensive for Guayaquil tourists. This is not an honest mistake; just a way of squeezing a few dishonest dollars...
