Hotel LEF is wonderful -- the staff, the service, the rooms, the cleanliness, the location, the breakfast. Although we often needed to converse with owner/manager Luis via translation apps, we felt like we were visiting our favourite relations.||||The rooms are a decent size, and beds comfortable. Shower always hot. There are sitting areas and also a outdoor patio to sit, although it is over the street and therefore noisy. Breakfast was filling with fresh bread and eggs to order, and the excellent, fresh fruit juice we experienced all over Ecuador.||||Just across the street is the artisan market where you can buy every type of souvenir you can imagine, and a couple of blocks away is Parque El Ejido. The Old Town is about a mile, and we walked there, and took a $2 taxi back. ||||Luis was happy to store our extra luggage during our Galapagos trip, and wouldn't charge us a penny for our 9pm checkout. He even arranged a $20 taxi to the airport. There is free parking too, although we didn't need it.||||We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere...
Read moreThe hotel arranged a driver from the new airport to the hotel for $30. The new airport is a 45+ minute drive from the city. I arrived at 8:30 pm so there was not much traffic. I paid the driver and was given the key to my room after paying the bill. There is a cafe steps away and a McDonalds and a KFC within one block. There are the big major hotels one block away also so it is a reasonably safe area. Around 3 am some idiot across the street started knocking down what sounded like a concrete wall. I called the desk and the owner reported it to the police. Other than that, the room was clean with TV and a nice hot shower. Breakfast was made to order and was very nice. All the people working there were extremely accommodating. There is a little sitting area on the second level with chairs and plants to chill. I...
Read moreThis hotel is right across the very charming artisan market as well as being close to many restaurants and bars. The hotel is family run by a husband and wife team. Rebecca and Luis went above and beyond to make our stay extremely pleasant. The hotel is newly renovated spotlessly clean, very good excess to hot water and the room was not only very clean it was very functional. Included in the nightly rate is a breakfast with fresh bread or croissants, cheese, ham, scrambled eggs and fruits. To drink there was always two choices of fresh juice, coffee and tea. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be in the middle of old Quito and the...
