Horrible service and completely disorganized!|So disappointing. Stayed here twice before and thought it was nice for the price.|This time, they completely messed up my reservation even though we talked 4 times on the phone and it had been confirmed as of 2 weeks ago.|Ridiculous and left me in a terrible situation! My friend was visiting me in Quito from Colombia (traveled 30 hours in bus). We had this special weekend planned, and I had reserved the nicest private cabin. They always make reservations on the phone, so I thought nothing of it (if you dare, get a confirmation in writing...not that it would have mattered).|I first spoke with the reception on Tue, June 6, inquiring about cabin availability for the weekend of June 16-19. Everything was available, he assured me, so I called back and confirmed the next day, and he recorded all of my information.|On the morning of Fri, June 16, I called at 8:50 am to double check and let him know we'd be arriving on the last bus from Quito. No problem, he assured me, everything is confirmed and you can arrive as late as you want to.|We arrived in Mindo, and decided to eat dinner in town first. I called again to check in about our late arrival. No problem, I was assured.|At 8 pm, we arrived. We were completely shocked when the men working reception told us they had no cabin for us, the entire hostal was booked, and DENIED EVER SPEAKING WITH ME and had no reservation on their books!!!!|Unfortunately, I had no written record except for the logged calls--to their correct number, as demonstrated through calling--on their phone. The men feigned complete ignorance. "Who did you talk to? We have never spoken with you." |I was incredulous. I spoke with the men who answer your phones in reception, sirs. Four. Times.|Nope, we never spoke with you, and we have nothing for you, so you need to leave!!!|I have no idea how this place stays in business. Read moreThe place is really beautiful and in my past experience, Bambu hotels are very warm and good, however, my experience in Mindo was ruined because the only employee who was managing the hotel that night was very rude to me. Problems with the dinner and the hot pool caused that i decided to leave at 10pm instead of staying the night. I was sad, because i wanted to wake up with the forrest, but that employee caused too much tension to stay. I speculate that as the hotel was almost empty, the woman on charge had invited her friends to use the bar and the pool, so because of that, she refused to prepare food or the pool for the actual guests. I dont think is appropiate to do that in your work place; she really did not care about the hotel. I think this can be avoided by arriving with a reservation so the general management knows you are comming, but as I arrived spontaneously, sadly...
Read moreI visited Bambu with a gigantic group, and I would come back here. Its a short walk to Mindo, with nice rooms that are affordable. Everything was clean, and the pool and jacuzzi were nice to relax in. There is space for volleyball, a game area with pingpong tables, and a nice kitchen/dining area that had some access to WiFi. Everything is very open to the outdoors, which was lovely. Breakfast (available to buy) is typical what you find anywhere in Ecuador.
