My friend and I stayed here this past Friday night. 10/2/2015. The website makes it look lovely. We were supposed to pay nearly $90 for a suite with a jacuzzi tub. We arrived in the afternoon and were escorted to our room after nearly 15 mins. It didn't seem that they knew about our reservation. I hadn't actually ever received an email confirmation from them, so we were a bit worried. We changed and went out to explore before it got dark and find a nice restaurant. We returned with our friends that night about 10 pm for a night cap. No one else was staying at the hotel and we were not being loud. The manager and another employee were banging on our door very shortly to tell us we could not have guests after 6 pm. We had no idea about this rule and were not informed of it. We had to kick our guests out and were harassed while doing so. It was very uncomfortable for everyone. We then decided to take a walk on the grounds near the pool and the guys followed us and were watching us the entire time. Plus, there were very loud barking dogs so it wasn't pleasant at all..we retired to our rooms quite annoyed. Then we realized there was no hot water and we couldn't even use the jacuzzi bath. We tried to call reception and the phone didn't work either. Being already thoroughly frustrated, we decided to leave it till the next morning. We went down for breakfast and waited nearly 30 minutes for coffee, then juice, and then finally received food, which was mediocre at best. After we finally arguing our points to no avail with the manager, we had to call the owner to make an acceptable agreement. We left in disbelief at the extremely unprofessional business etiquette. Save yourself a headache and avoid...
Read moreI was GRANDPAcking in Vilca for 1 week.||I booked myself into the Hostería El Descanso de Ramses … it was about 100 metres from the town centre.||I booked a Double Room (single occupancy) at a discounted rate of about US$21 / night including Breakfast.||My room was on the ground floor with a nice view out over the pool and a place to rig up my hammock.||My room was on the small side.||It came with a wardrobe and cable TV (with lots of English Speaking channels).||The in-room wifi was very good and fast enough to stream videos.||It had an average sized ensuite.||The ‘hot water shower’ took a couple of minutes to warm up and, when it did, the water was usually ‘tepid’ rather than ‘hot’.||The included Breakfast was average: coffee / tea, fruit juice, 2 eggs (scrambled or fried), yogurt, muesli, and toast with butter and jam.||All-in-all, I thought that it was good value for money at the price that I paid...
Read moreOur ladies group always eats overlooking the pool on the back patio; I've been in several of the rooms too. The view is a delight! The service to take an order is fast, options for the "special " are limited and small but the price is $4.50 including a tasty drink; there is also a full menu but be sure to add two "sides" or the servings will also be small. Usually with 8 or more people, in typical Latin style, dishes come out one - just one - at a time. Therefore, the first one served is done eating long before the last person is served. If hungry, it's best to order a dish to share and wait longer in a more contented manner for...
